when i backed the kick starter i got one of my former friend to buy it for me and we have since fallen out and i have asked him to give me the key because he is not interested in using it how would i go about getting a steam key i could send my personal download link to prove that i do own the game already. ps. i also used his email for this but i have the download link if it helps

This falls in the realm of missing your download email.  See https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=1875.0 and email Ludeon Support.  You'll need to get your email address corrected first by supplying the original email address used and the SendOwl download link.  After that you can get your Steam key (see my sig).
