I was looking at the core and i think i understand what they do. I want to make some new guns, is this all i have to do? It looks too easy. I'm pretty sure I'm missing something.

Make the About thingy
Copy gun things from the core
Edit to my liking

To answer the title question, that depends on what you want to mod.

In reference to the body of the message, xml copy-pasta is as easy as it gets.
(2*b)||!(2*b) - That is the question.
There are 10 kinds of people in this world - those that understand binary and those that don't.

What's tough about modding is making a suitable Preview.png in your painting program of choice. ;)

But yeah, let's say you want to make some textures for your guns. You need to point at the place in your mod's folder where RimWorld can find those textures.

Bullets can also be defined in XML. So for example, one of your guns might be a railgun which fires railway spikes at high velocity. Ouch, they're going to hurt.
