How does one use kibble?

I seem to recall in a past version having special bowls for it..but that might have been a mod. I cant let the animals have access to the food storage area because they will eat the frozen meat and I cant leave it out in a storage area of its own since it goes bad

You can leave kibble on an inside stockpile near your animals, as long as you designate the area to be available for your animals, they have no qualms about walking into a windowless, dark booth to eat. AFAIK, kibble doesn't need to be refrigerated, might have changed with A14 though, need to check.

I sometimes have it outside also in a purpose stockpile if I can under a rock over hang to stop rain . wild critters sometimes eat it. pros and cons .
Basically a passive defense  against those wandering man hunting critters , by far not 100% but does edge  your bet over free food to eatable pawn.

Food dish? = Hopper?  never used one . might play with one to see how and what ways they work.
