Unsure if bug, or something else is happening?

So, my tribe, despite lots of adversity, has made it to the point of having energy, cooling, and a good backup battery system.

I have a couple of things that have happened that have made me scratch my head....

First, I constantly buy components from wandering merchants... but it seems every time I do, and I put them in storage, they magically vanish later.... I only notice because I am intentionally avoiding using any components and saving them so I can build a geo-thermal vent.  Is there something (besides obvious damage they take from being outside) I am maybe missing that requires components as a constant repair item?  Am I missing something else?

Also, I had a question about some explosions that have happened inside my home "due to electricity".... what did I do "wrong" that these events have happened?   Did a "meh" worker build the wire and thats why?  Does the game just randomly do this regardless of your feelings on a random basis?  I have yet to find any text in the game, or anything else anywhere to explain why stuff has blown up.

If the storage is outside they will degrade and vanish. Also items that requires components to be build, also require components to be repaired: coolers, heaters, auto-doors, turrets, workbenches, etc. (Hell, the fueled stove does not require components to be build, but you must repair it with components.)

When fully charged, in heat or rain batteries tend to explode. Charge them up to 2/3 then disconnect them. You will not lose the charges. You might even enjoy the Zzzz event, where without a reason your batteries explode because Randy said so.

Basically keep them in the fridge, but keep at least 1 free tile around them (I keep 2 tiles). And put a foam thingie at each 4 of them.

Hope it helps.

I haven't seen anything "break" or any notice that it has broken (except for a battery from time to time).  I would think it would tell me if anything major broke down that required components..... especially for it to eat 7 of them in a day with no construction projects looming, and no obviously broken tech (again, may just be missing something).

As for the batteries, so I should keep them cold?  Is there an easy way to switch them over from on grid to off grid?  Right now they are going from my energy generation area to my batteries, and then all my colony electricity feeds off the batteries (which are in a "utility shed")...

Also, the "explosions" haven't been my batteries as much as they have been random events in the house... not sure if specific items like lamps or just spots in the wall because by the time I notice, its too late to see what might have been there.... will check if maybe it isn't shoddy lamp quality or something....

Is an yellow icon that appears right side on the screen when something that requires components to be fixed has broken. Just like other events.

It is in battery description. "they tend to explode... blah blah... rain or heat" (i'm at work, i can't remember the exact description). Like I said, I keep them in the fridge, that's -10 Celsius degrees.

You can uninstall batteries. Put them in storage. Get from there when you need em, and install where you need em.

If you are talking about the event where a faulty wire explodes (possibly starting a fire) and draning all your battery power, that's just a random troll event. There's nothing you can do to stop it.
If the battery (or any other electric item) explodes due to environmental factors (usually rain), the game will tell you.

BTW, this is way funnier because you're playing tribe... duhhh.. me wire elek-trissy. Me great engineer!

Batteries don't have to be cooled, just don't put them where they'll be overheating (Room Temp is fine).  I usually also put them in my cooler, at least until i build a dedicated power room, just because that's where i initially need them (you know, to power the coolers).

If you can get geothermal power, don't bother with batteries until you need to supplement geothermal with something else.  Geothermal is constant, as long as you don't let your power lines to them be destroyed.  Then you don't have to deal with batteries exploding at all.  If the power shorts somewhere, the explosion is usually smaller too since all the power from live batteries isn't going into it.
