Overlapping powergrids

I would really like to be able to build overlapping powergrids. This could be done with colored cables, so where you would choose material for ex a wall you could instead choose a color for the wire. This could be used to have vital stuff (coolers and turrets etc) powered from generators inside of the base while non vital stuff could be powered by geothermals outside of the base.
