I had a bonded dog ... I really don't want bonded pets so I sold it ... my pawn got -10 mod (bonded pet sold) ... then the dog died, don't know how ... and my pawn got another -10 mod (bonded pet died)... is this WAD D;?

sorry my bad english xd!

The first debuff is normal. You  sold the guys pet and he's pissed.

The second debuff might be an issue depending when/where the dog died. Things that happen to the dog shouldn't affect the colonist while off screen.

It's weird that the dog died after you sold it... possibly a bug? Try reporting it in the Bugs forum.

I just had something similar happen when I sold a group of tortoises. A couple of them reappeared on the map as untamed a short while later.  When the named one got killed by a warg, one of my colonists got the bonded animal death debuff.   (The tortoise was never trained, it just nuzzled one of my colonists and got a name.)

It's only worth reporting if you KNOW it's a bug.  It could have died of old age or predator attack before it left the map.  If it left the map alive, and then LATER the colonist got the bonded-animal-death debuff, I'd call that a bug.

Please clarify: How did you have a wild tortoise that was named?  Names are only given upon nuzzling, which is a behavior reserved for tamed animals.  If it self-tamed, then nuzzled (bonded), and then died, that's not a bug.  If it was wild and was named, that's also a bug.  Also, were you using any mods at the time?

I have a few mods, but none that should effect animals.  (I know.  Famous last words.)

I received tortoise eggs as a gift via the Hospitality mod.  I tamed, but never trained them (e.g. no obedience, etc.).  One of the tortoises got named due to a nuzzling event a little later.  After that I sold all of them.  About one to two game weeks later, two of the seven sold tortoises reappeared on the map, one of which was the named one.  Both were labeled in blue text.  The named one was killed by a warg, and then my colonist got the debuff.

Ah, but you said it right there. You tamed it. Even if you didn't train it, it was still tamed. You can be bonded to a tamed animal. It doesn't need to be trained. That's my understanding at least.

omphaloskepsis

I'm not too concerned about it being bonded by nuzzling.  That makes sense.

But why did they reappear after getting sold, untamed but still bonded?  The first issue is that they reappeared at all.  The second is that they had been partially decoupled (untamed) but not entirely (still bonded).

dbuchmann

No idea on that part. Maybe it escaped and tried to return to your colonist? Would be interesting to know if it returned from the same side of the map that it left from with the traders. Tortoises are known for developing lifelong bonds, and they live for a long long time. Possible bug? Yes. Touching story? I'd like to think so. Now I feel bad for the tortoise though. :(

the returning "bug" has been around for a while now. it was in the last version.(and at the time i was playing vanilla too.)

personally I like to think the animal escaped and managed to return to the area, but doing so took so long it became wild.
