Rimworld feels like it should have some politics in it. It allows for more interesting play styles and allows more laid back players to enjoy the game.

---------------------------- Diplomatic Envoy

The Diplomatic Envoy event starts randomly. It is a passive group from a different faction - friendly or hostile.
Sending a colonist to interact with the envoy Ambassador - the 'leader' of the envoy - will bring up a menu. At the top of the menu is a question or offer from the faction the envoy came from, such as:

"Betray your tribal allies in the south, and we can work together. We will send you 50 steel every day for this year and will protect you from them."
or
"Send us 100 steel, and we will send you 200 wood in return."

---------------------------- Politics Table

Through the Politics Table, you can manage relationships, trading and send offers to other factions. Offers are the same as the offers given by diplomatic envoys, but instead you control them.

If you want to improve your relationship with another faction, you can contact them through a communications console by selecting the "Improve Relationship" option under the factions name.

It will give you a random objective you must complete through the politics table, such as:

Send the faction 50 gold to stop them being hostile towards the colony
or
Sell the faction a Warg to improve your relationship by 25.

---------------------------- Trading

Trading works through the Politics Table. You can sell items whenever you want to other factions as long as the items are in your stockpile. Through researching Insight, you are able to see what factions need.

If a faction desperately needs wood, they will offer double silver for it.

If a faction only wants wood, they will offer 50% more for it.
