Baby chickens (i.e. Chicks) are not renamed as they grow up

Not sure if this is genuinely a bug or intentional. Chicks hatched from my hens' eggs are born with the name chick 1, chick 2, etc. as expected. However, they retain this name into adulthood, so I have a bunch of grown hens and roosters all named "Chick #" Seems if they're given names based on their lifestage, that name should change as they grow up, into Hen 1, Hen 2, Rooster 1, Rooster 2, etc.

Log is attached, and here is the save https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/23553672/Maoville%20(1).7z just in case.

Edited for clarity.

AFAIK hatched/newborn animals are not automatically given names when they grow up, and like tamed animals they only get a chance of being named* during training or when a bond is formed, and maybe when nuzzling (for the first time?).

* My knowledge on animal naming mechanics isn't great (plus I seem to be generally having a fuzzy memory day today. Edit - Confirmed, yes I am), but I'm sure enough that this isn't a bug to move this thread (from Bugs) to GD Edit - Moved back to the bugs thread because I mis-read the OP (thankfully Shinzy was on hand to cover my arse. Thanks Shinzy). And maybe there someone with better knowledge (and a better memory) than me can clarify when animals (hatched/newborn/otherwise) have a chance of being named.

Certain animals are given names whether they have a bond or not, like the various dogs. Others will only be named when a bond is created. Nuzzling, treating injuries, and training may be triggers for creating a bond, but the degree of them doing so have been severely toned down in A15; animals are thus much more likely to remain unnamed.

This feels like an oversight on Ty's part :p having animals be named by their lifestage, It does seem a bit strange having bunch of adult chicks

Ah, thanks for this Shinzy. My initial take on the OP was a bug regarding the chicks not being named when they grew to adulthood. But I've just re-read the OP on the basis of your post and can see the OP was referring to hens and roosters still being called chicks upon adulthood, which is a different matter.

My bad. But I'll move this back to the bug thread now since it does seem like a bug/oversight (I said I was having a fuzzy head day today :( ).

@ ShadowTani - Thanks for the additional info on animal naming.

This has been around since tamed animals where put in lol. I always thought it was an intended feature.

Sorry about the confusion, Calahan :P I edited my original post for clarity.
