animals hunting colonists vs. improvised turrets.

I know a lot of electrons have been spilled over this issue, but my 2 cents:

I had a pawn who was out cutting wood.  I happened to be watching this pawn, and noticed a predator (timber wolf) hunting him.  To protect him, I drafted him and ran him back to the safety of the walls and turrets.

I was a bit surprised when the turrets did not shred the predator.  I was told that if the turrets could sense the mental state (hunting) of the animal, then the hunting animals would not be a threat -- I agree!

I thought of that (in the moment) but I feel like that when the hunting animal actually causes damage to the pawn who has attempted to seek refuge, the turrets should then open fire.

I know the turrets are some 'magic', as they can somehow tell the difference between colonists and traders and raiders, but according to the apparent logic, they should at least open up to protect a pawn who is actively being attacked by an actor who is not a colonist.

That might include an escapee.  I'm ok with that.
