A few suggestions

  • Colonists need to take showers or bathe
  • Colonists can contract STDs
  • Colonists need to "use the bathroom"
  • Colonists can get pregnant and produce children
Since Drugs were introduced I feel these need to be added.  :)

Agreed. Maybe not STD (i don't know, never seen any game implementing that feature, kidda thing it is more of a bummer to have in a game)

The STD idea came from a game I'm playing were my lone RimWorlder got an infection in her arm and a wanderer appeared directly afterwards. So I pieced those together. Proilly will never see the light of day but...it's out there.

Using the bathroom/bathing would be funny especially if a raid is happening and your best shooter is "on the throne".  ;D

Another idea is: VEHICLES!  ;D

I want to haul multiple chunks/slags/etc from waaaaaayyy over on the other side of the map and then bring them back to my humble abode without wasting half my population just to do it.

The problem with these features is that it adds more complexity but nothing more to the game, and it would make it even slower and boring. And you can say how boring these features adding cause I already thought this before reading Tynan's article about "adding the simplest stuff that makes the most impact".

Vehicles could be interesting but only if maps where something like 1000x1000. Maybe you meant the same as I suggested, a manual cart that can hold several items at same time, not a car or a truck.

I don't see how the STD would be complex. The game already has:
1, The Flu
2. Malaria
3. Muscle parasites
4. etc

Not sure how the STD is any different from those listed above. But, like the subject header says: a few suggestions. I doubt they'll ever see the light of day, however, it would be interesting. But everyone, from what I have read so far, is infatuated with the whole new 'drug' addition to the game. Not my cup of tea but at least you can add/remove the drug policy.

Well, STDs sound acceptable but the problem is that there arent many sexual relations or "liberal" relations. You have to play a very long game to have even a small chance of someone that had sex with one person have sex with another, thats why I dont see it very important.

Note that Im not bashing at you, I dont usually read suggestions but I did read your post and answered with my opinion.

Since you guys are on the topic,
They should add relations with factions, that way your colonist might get aids/hep/etc.. from a friendly faction visitor
I'd also like to see cancer, ebola, black plague, all the really nasty shit
and heart attacks would be cool too
