Somewhat tangent, but I wish the standard for dates would actually switch to yyyy/mm/dd so for your example 2017/06/12

My reasoning is it is the easiest sorting by date method for files on a computer. That is what I use when saving emailed invoices at work, and it works great.

Just make it an ISO-standard date!
YYYY-MM-DD
YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm
YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss
etc

Or just detect the current user preferred date format from the system setting and use that.

Like temperature C/F, just have a dropdown menu in Options which gives a choice between MM/DD/YYYY  ,   DD/MM/YYYY  ,  YYYY/MM/DD
