How to control prisoner release spot?

Hello.

In my current colony, my warden is releasing prisoners into the middle of a trapped corridor. While most of the time they can get out ok, sometimes they do trigger the traps. I'd rather not get an "Innocent prisoner died" debuff for something as silly as this.

Can anyone advise on how I can force her to release them to a safer spot? Maybe outside of the colony walls instead of tossing them into a death pit...

I didn't see anything come up in vanilla or mod searches, so curious if there are any known workarounds for this. It can't be super common or I imagine I'd have found something in searches?

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks.

you could try to make a prison cell close to the map and let your warden bring him to there and then release him

Not realy the best solution requires some micro managing but can help you negate those buffs

I believe your warden will take them to the closest spot outside of your walls. Your kill box would be considered outside as it probably has an open path in it.

As PieTau suggested, you could try placing your prison closer to an alternative exit to your base.
The only difference between screwing around and science is writing it down.

It's also possible to transfer prisoners to other cells. Designate another room as a cell and make the old one a non-prisoner bed.

If you have more than 1 way out of your base you can forbid the doors that lead to your kill zone and then release your prisoner. It will be released out of your safer door.

On mountainous maps, if my base is in or against a mountain that touches the edge of the map, I make a tunnel through to the edge of the map and put a door there. If I want to release my naked prisoner during a cold snap or toxic fall out or if the prisoner is crippled or brain damaged, then I use that door to release them (after locking all other doors). After the prisoner is released it only has to take a few steps and then they are off the map.

make your kill box as home so he won't release it there he releases it mostly outside you home zone

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

It seems I'll need to design around the problem for now. I'll just need to be sure to setup a special path for prisoner releases or micro them each time.

Maybe someone will make a prisoner release spot mod one day. Until then, these should work well enough.

Thanks again!

I was realizing my prisoners after raid, when traps were not reset yet.

The workaround's pretty simple: set the killbox as your home area, release the prisoner, and afterwards clear the killbox off your home area. Prisoners are always released outside your home area.

Just fyi on this, the trap area is always within the home area in my layout, so doing the above is simply not true. The prisoner was being released well within the home area.

I ended up building a granite hallway/doors straight to the outside from the prison as a workaround. It will make jailbreaks tedious, but seems there isn't a perfect solution.

Thanks.

Might be a bug, then. I know the mods were iffy on how exactly prisoner release worked when I posted a similar bug:

I'd suggest filing this as a bug and attaching a savefile where you can replicate it to your Bug Report post.

I've never seen my wardens escorting prisoners outside of "home zone"; they just seem to escort them out of my prison and let them go well within my base (there IS a path from release point to edge of map that doesn't go through doors, perhaps that makes a difference?)

that IS the difference ie the path to the edge withOUT doors or other barriers

Thing is, unless I'm mistaken, released prisoners CAN use doors to exit base.  Either that or my last few released prisoners successfully crossed over my deadfall traps without activating them and I didn't notice.
