Impressive bedroom designs?

I recruited a greedy colonist and am having a difficult time pumping up my room stats to impressive. Even with two marble statues, an excellent bed, and carpeting it's still barely interesting. What kind of designs do you guys use for an impressive bedroom? Preferably without things like solid gold royal beds.

I had to install 5 or 6 statues in one greedy colonist's room before it reached "a little bit impressive" status for the mood buff.
(IIRC this was a 5x6 room with polished marble floor -- if your floors are stone I think it's a better idea to smooth the floor rather than to tile it)

Oddly enough, I think Sterile Tiles might be the best flooring to use to boost Impressiveness, rather than carpet or anything else (except maybe Gold Tile but that's stupidly expensive).

What's the advantage to sterile? I don't have a problem with dirt, and carpet gives +2 beauty rather than sterile's 0.

Sterile tile is useful in your hospitals as it helps prevent infections.

In this situation you are probably better off with stone floors or carpet. (Marble is the most impressive I believe).

Be sure to have stone walls as well if you can.

Most of the time I just deal with the mood debuff as it's too much work to receive an impressive bedroom.
The only difference between screwing around and science is writing it down.

If you have a stone floor anyway (building into a mountain), a smoothed floor has +3 beauty, and costs 0 resources beyond construction time (and that has side benefit of helping to improve skills).

I'm not entirely clear how "impressiveness" and "beauty" are related in the game.

Impressiveness has multiple parts, but beauty is the most constant one. I.e. room dirtyness, size and the other stuff that you see on the room stats also has an impact on it. I think they are all multiplicative, though with different factors.

@OP, regarding the statues the beauty value of them is really important. There are also statues with negative beauty value, as such saying "I placed 5-6" doesnt really mean much when they might all be shoddy.
Bed quality also plays quite a role in its beauty value, as a masterwork bed alone can push beauty by quite a bit.

Yeah, I get its use in a hospital. Now that I think about it, he probably said sterile was best because of its value. I tried marble tile but I was losing 1 wealth per tile over blue carpet and everything else was staying the same.

Maybe the Rimworld Wiki on room stats can help you out?

I'm aware of the formula and stat thresholds, I just don't know an efficient combination of items and room size without just brute forcing it with absurdly expensive items.

With a larger room and high quality items you can get it to "a little bit impressive" at least. But it's a lot of work. The quality and value of the stuff plays a huge role. The material also factors into the beauty and value.

So just for a laugh, I made an excellent quality silver royal bed. 5x5 room room, not counting walls, and two masterwork marble statues. It's "a little bit impressive."

I'm going to go ahead and say that impressive bedrooms just aren't feasible.

Good point -- I should have mentioned they were all at least "good" quality -- and as you can see from screenshot, they still vary in beauty by an order of magnitude (depending, on size, quality, and I think materials.  I believe that lighter-coloured statue (+438) is one I unintentionally made out of silver.)

For greedy colonists, "a little bit impressive" is enough to get a mood buff (+3 IIRC).

Here is screenshot of my "a little bit impressive" bedroom -- in fact it has 8 statues of varying good+ quality, and a royal bed:

Pretty sure that the impressiveness here is mostly hampered by the "rather tight" space.

Sterile is a boost to Impressiveness because of the formula used to calculate Impressiveness: http://rimworldwiki.com/wiki/Room_stats#Impressiveness

Cleanliness can have a fairly significant impact on Impressiveness. You can boost Wealth and Beauty using other methods, but the only way to boost Cleanliness is by Sterile Tile.
