I can't seem to find answers to a few small questions re: purchasing RimWorld via the Ludeon Studios main site (http://rimworldgame.com/):

- Is the $30 package the cheapest one?  I badly want to buy the game but my wife makes most of the money, so it's beholden upon me to be responsible with it ^^' .

- Ive been led to believe that the separate (non-Steam) mods are superior to the Steamworks mods.  Is this true?  And, true or not, is there any way to d/l Steamworks mods for the non-Steam version, if I care to?
Thanks, belgord!

The mods on Steam and here are the same. Sometimes the people uploading them to Steam are not the same as the author, but it should say that. Many authors have them on both places, but some don't like Steam.

The issue is that Steam mods automatically update themselves (unless there is a separate version for A15/A16, etc. which some have). Though the auto-update can also be nice. It depends on your taste I guess.

And yes, $30 is the lowest price. No sales any time soon, so don't bother holding out for one.
If you buy it on the site instead of Steam you'll have the DRM-free version plus you can still register it on Steam, here.
