Why is she eating without a table?

Like.. if eating off the floor makes her unhappy, why is she doing it?  There's a well made table and chairs in the room with her.

This is one of the weaker parts of the game I think. NPCs routinely complain about having to eat with no table when five seconds of walking would get them to one.  If they care so much that there is going to be a defuff, they should take action to prevent it.

Eating a sleeping both need improvement.  The AI isnt flexible at all when the need to eat or sleep hits. Only existing jobs keeps them from eating.  And sleeping -  I've seen the AI sleep when I had them  fighting a fire; they went to sleep right next to the fire.

Sometimes the food is too far from the table. More often though if they have that debuff while eating it's left over from the last prior time they ate, which probably happened while they were close to food but far from a table.

This is not the case.  She's been in that jail cell a week, and it's had a table the whole time.

Hhhhhmmmm, that definitely looks a bit odd, and might be worth investigating further.

If this problem is still happening (and if not please post with an update) then it might be helpful for you to post the save game file where it's occurring. If you archive the save then you might be able to post it as an attachment (600kb limit), or if not use a 3rd party storage service (Dropbox/GoogleDrive etc) to host the file and post the download link (I'll move this thread to bugs if something buggy is confirmed via the save).

Does she have hands? Pawns with a manipulation of zero can't carry their food to a table.

Sola

Different pawn, different prison cell, good quality furniture, refused to eat at table.

Both pawns have "OK" (100%) in all stats, except for one who has a scar causing 3% pain.

@ Sola - Did you see my post earlier in the thread? If you are encountering a bug here then it's going to be really difficult, if not impossible, to establish the cause without a save file. As screenshots just leaves others playing a guessing game.

Is the chair actually adjacent to & facing the table?

Sola

I cannot find the save file on my computer.  Does having permadeath activated hide the savefile?

As you can see in both screenshots, the chairs are indeed adjacent to, and facing the table.

Go to the options screen and click the "open save game folder" option (or something like that it's called). The save files may or may not be in that folder though because in the most recent version the "RimWorld" folder got renamed to "RimWorld by Ludeon Studios" (Unity was at fault for this I think). So if the saves are not visible right away, then navigate up one (or two) folders until you are in the "LocalLow/Ludeon Studies" folder, and then open the "RimWorld by Ludeon Studies>Saves" folder. The save files should be in there.

Thank you for the save file. Much appreciated. I have loaded your save* but I was unable to reproduce the behaviour you observed. Have attached a screenshot of the Pawn in the cell from the OP (screenshot) eating at the table.

* Your save game uses the prepare carefully mod. I do not have this mod available, but your save appeared to load okay without it. I don't know if this means that mod is causing the problem, but it might be useful for you to test it. I have also posted a save game in the next post just before the Pawn named "Grim" wakes up and eats a meal. Please test that save to see if the Pawn eats at the table for you like he does for me.

Here is the save file mentioned above (double posting due to 600kb limit)

I have prepare carefully installed, but I didn't use it in that game (I think).

The jailbird does not refuse to eat with a table EVERY time.  However, the instances in which they don't eat at a table seems random.

Additionally, colonists will refuse to eat at a table on occasion, too.  Long table with 8 chairs less than 15 squares away from the larder, and they're all like "Nah... I'll just eat here and go into a sad wander like I always do!"
