Caravans are super cool however they need some adjustment! What problems do you have with caravans? I will start and list a few...

1. Caravan departure spot

I have a big base and my muffalo decided to convene really really far away from my stock pile. Now there is no way for me to get the muffalo to just convene in my stockpile. And now that is going to create a lot more problems....

2.  Pawns respect work rules while loading caravan

Because I had SOO much to load up on the muffalo it took my pawns a REALLY long time to get all the goods too them, and because the pawns go into never take a break work mode they all started collapsing of exhaustion, then Scorpion lost his shit and tried to punch a baby muffalo in the face! Now I'm not sure if I have to reform the caravan or will they just continue to load them up.  The only way I know to stop it is to draft then updraft the pawns, and now I don't know what the status of the caravan is....

Therefore I think that preparation of caravan should be a work priority and compatible with work schedules and I think all the colonists should be involved instead of just the ones doing the traveling because that shouldn't of happened if Scorpion would have decided to just take a break when loading up the caravan.

I'm pretty sure my muffalo still have half of the goods on them. How do I get that off? Is there a way to cancel the caravan once it is in preparation mode?

There are probably a thousand and one little tweaks that caravans need for the next alpha so letting the big man upstairs know about it would, I think, be helpful!

They know the problems, the loading spot has already been implemented and the other problem will be corrected soon (I hope).

Those are just some things that are off the top of my head. There are a lot of other things that caravans need that few have thought of I'm sure.

This 100%. I haven't had any big problems with caravans, but this just makes sense.

While I'm sure they *do* know the problems, I haven't seen much acknowledgement. What's your source that Tynan is/has implemented a loading spot? Or are you talking about the existence of a mod that does this?

skullywag

Ison has added a marriage spot esque loading spot for the next release.
Skullywag modded to death.
I'd never met an iterator I liked....until Zhentar saved me.
Why Unity5, WHY do you forsake me?

I'd like to see another speed setting for time.  Even at max speed my caravans take their sweet time moving across the globe.  It took so long last night that I decided to fold laundry while I was waiting for them to travel from the equator to the north pole where the AI ship is waiting.

TL;DR- Need ludicrous speed for caravan travel.

Has anyone explained why after a random encounter's over, colonists will just randomly start dropping everything they're carrying? It's made reforming caravans a pain in the ass.

Jstank

I thought of another one just now... Why when reforming a caravan do I see a bunch of random chunks?

Because they're technically in one of your stockpiles. Same with corpses.

I speak about a recent comment of a Ludeon member coming from the "Your cheapest idea".

He says in this comment that he has just finished to write the code for caravan loading spot.
I imagine it will be implemented in the A17.

NeverPire: Are you talking about this?

Skullywag isn't a member of Ludeon, though he is a moderator here; I do think that maybe Ison is? He's listed as a developer, but I haven't seen much out of him on the forums, so I'm not sure. If you're right, that's good to know, though.

Edit: Okay! I found a recent post in his history that confirms this. Good to know.

NeverPire

I don't talk about it but abour the post from a ludeon member (name in red).
Unfortunately, I don't remember exactly where in the forum I have seen his post :/.

Prisoners which follow the caravan to the map edge do not have trap knowledge and thus can spring everything on their way out. I hope you don't have a minefield of IEDs because dayum that's going to take a while to clean up.

About the fixin' I believe that Caravans should have better calculation or explanition on the time necessary to travel.

Not only once, the caravan took longer than necessary and food became a problem, even though it should last 2 days plus the described.
