Joy for caravans?

On a long caravan trip, is there any way to address the joy need without starting a second colony (or settling an initial colony if its your only one)?

Would taking a horseshoe pin or telescope along help with Joy need automatically, like food helps with hunger, or will i simply need to settle every day or so to build a fire and horseshoe pin?
