So just wondering how to work in trade deals in a way that makes sense.

Like where you and a faction sign a deal that for a certain duration you exchange certain resources/items (like, for 2 years, every month you send them 10 weapons and they send you 300 leathers).
And if you fail to supply, you get a big relationship penalty etc.

So on the face of it, faction diplomacy is on the cards. Especially if more factions are added.
But... the way the game is currently, it seems like everything you do will be way, way overpowered and circumvent completely many of the 'survival' elements of the game, trivializing the whole experience.

Seriously this game needs a lot more content to make sense, and a way to be a lot more gradual in progress, and with many more routes and choices to get to goals.

Tynans on the case, just alot to draw his attention haha

Though i would like trade deals to be the case on the promise of you the player have to assign pawns to caravans, shipping it and opening yourself up to raids. Maybe losing a caravan to raids can add a few days grace if you have high enough standing. Maybe they cancel the deal.

Maybe, they decide to come take whats owed them.
Would be an interesting thing for late game, and there are plenty of mechanics in the game already it could play with... any others you can think of?

Also would be interesting to add an economy, where you can tell "how many coins cows be fetchin' over there" etc.
You could ask in towns (taverns?) for general price ranges on certain goods at certain towns and plan a trade trip accordingly. And have your trade trip be raided.

In all honesty I think this would be a lot of fun, if you didn't have a colony to manage.
Because you have a colony to manage, all this other stuff feels a bit problematic.

I think I'd enjoy playing a traveling gypsy group that trade from town to town or something like that. shady deals also and much merryment. Screw all this colony bullshit. Or at least have a large rec-room on wheels. Or a circus.

Honestly, I really want to see more of other factions. I want more ways to interact with them, and more ways to influence their thoughts on me.

Like maybe a nearby faction could request you send a few workers to help repair their base, and maybe you could do the same for them. Depending on your relationship with that faction, they might have sent for your colonists in an attempt to take them prisoner, or maybe they just genuinely needed help. And likewise, if you send for help from other colonies, you could imprison them, or otherwise harvest them.
Shitposting to the max.

I like that idea harp. Maybe tynan could look into intergrating the hospitality mod into vanilla? Ima go vote that up on the thread for it i think.

Hm... Just thinking about the implications of integrating the thing I said above.

It'd be cool if like, say you were playing an electricity-less tribe, or if the group asking for help was an electricity-less tribe, they'd actually have to send a messenger boy to get the message across, and maybe that messenger boy would come with the supplies needed to get your group over to their base, as an act of hospitality.

But also, what is the hospitality mod? I haven't seen that yet. I just got Rimworld over the Christmas sale.

That would be cool! Meesenger boy is already a backstory so thematically its already there haha

The hospitality mod by orion lets you set up where visitors will hang out, and other such features, from what ive heard its really good but i dont normally use mods haha

There's also ideas like colonies posting a bounty on a raider boss in some camp that you can then hunt down for the bounty (if you're quick enough and do it before other factions).

Possibly you could play a hired mercenary group, get hired to escort caravans across the map or whatever. Lots of options, but the problem is that they all rely on not having a base of your own, so that's why I said it's very difficult to implement
