Alpha 16 - A New Start (Unmodded Jungle Randy on Intense)

Well, we actually managed to get off the planet in my Alpha 15 play through, so better up the ante and choose Randy this time! I'll regret this for sure.

SO! The story this time is that a family, having lost everything due to civil war on their home planet has decided to scrape together and sell the last of their belongings to book passage away from their war torn home and travel to a new, unsoiled planet in order to start anew. We start with a family of four, a mother, father, daughter and son and 2 random pets. This means if we lose any of these people early the colony is 100% sure to fall apart.

Also, this being the original family, once we have enough colonists to make it feasible, they (or what's left of them) are going to want to start enjoying life a little, leaving the hard work to the other 'employees', or guests in their colony.

I've got three videos up so far, and although Randy hasn't exactly been kind, he hasn't been as vicious as he could have been. There's a chance we could make a decent go of this run. Barring a manhunting pack of 80 boomrats.

And the next two! Part 6 involves murdering a bunch of muffalos that want to murder us, then very nearly being murdered by some mechanoids but just about managing to murder them. Part 7 is very pleasant when the wildlife decides to join us rather than attempt to eat us/kill us for fun.

Some major mechanoid fun in part 8. What's more mechy than a psychic ship? A mechanoid raid right afterwards! Woo! In part 9 we FINALLY actually deal with the psychic ship that we've been distracted from over and over and our prisoner FINALLY decides to join us.

The next two parts are out, where we fight off some pirates chasing a human computer that needs our help (research, yay!) (weapons, yay!) (Cassowary 1, noo!), and then have a nice sweat as randy blasts us with a heat wave and drops ANOTHER psychic ship on us.

Been ill for a few days guys sorry, so with a bit of a delay the next two episodes are up! In part 12 we try to deal with yet another psychic ship, but unfortunately this one doesn't go quite as well as the previous ones. And part 13, other than a few chicken-related incidents, is relatively quiet, meaning we can do some much needed base and furniture improvement!

The next two episodes are here, and the theme for these two episodes is death. Lots of death. Death of tribal raiders. Death of chickens. So many chickens. Why do all my playthroughs devolve in to chicken genocide? I don't know, I'm just lucky I guess.

Things are heading downhill... Over half of our colonists get sleeping sickness, which really really messes us up considering that our penoxycyline burnt to a crisp in a conduit short circuit... So we have few active colonists left and many raids to deal with as well as the ever present psychic ship which is starting to drive us all insane... This could spell disaster.

Two more are up! The main story this time is malaria, so much so that I recorded an 1h 20m episode trying to get my colonists through it, and cut it in half because that's a little too ridiculous. So this is more of a two part-er! Can we get through malaria when both our good doctors get infected and we only have herbal meds? It's looking dangerous...

Next two are up! Randy seems to want us to have more colonists for whatever reason, I'm sure he has plans for them, so he gives us 3 escape pods in quick succession. Very strange. Then we get some sappers and a trade ship! Finally! They're going to overcharge us for everything, but still!

Next two are up :) We finally get an exotic trader to sell some of our stuff to, so we take full advantage and take them for everything they have, angering the nearby mechanoid hive... for some reason. Probably jealousy, if mechanoids can get jealous. Then we crank Randy up to extreme difficulty and immediately get the plague. Nice.

Next two! We get an infestation - outside our base, which seemingly only makes it slightly less dangerous. And then we finally start upgrading the 3/4 of our colonists still using bows from a pirate raid where we actually successfully fight the pirates!

2 more! We FINALLY have a new couple at the colony! Then we go and squash a siege before they even have a chance to build a sandbag. In the second video Randy finally starts living up to his name and piles the events on us quicker than we can handle them. We're bruised, broken and slightly exploded, but we will persevere.
