During Fallout Berries Drop if Harvest was Checked

During the fallout I browsed the berry bushes because my food was low. I noticed that you could harvest from the black bushes even if they weren't in season anymore. (I don't think that you should be able to harvest from a black bush. )

But not just that, I went ahead and checked when they said "Ready to Harvest." My characters got sleepy so they left the rest for the morning. By morning the bushes had disappeared (died) and left me with lots, at least 25 baskets of berries. I assume it's because I had checked for them to be harvested. I feel that 1. berries shouldn't be able to be harvested from blackened bushes 2. During fallout, when you mark to harvest, "Ready to Harvest" berries and the bush literally disappears - berries shouldn't be left for you to eat or haul.
