Mining Zones - It would be great if we could define mining zones or somehow tell colonist to mine multiple squares into hidden areas. Having to select multiple individual squares after they are revealed is a time-consuming repetitive process. I would rather be able to direct colonists to start digging until they find something different, or clear an area etc. This would allow us to skip micromanaging mining. A little more "set and forget" like we have with recipes (do forever).

You can. Use the mining tool in the orders menu. You can set as much mining as you like, wherever you want.

Edit: by the way, that means you are prob cutting one tree at a time and harvesting wild plants one at a time? If so, this menu will change the game for you!

+1

Orders > Mine > click and drag.
Orders > Chop wood > click and drag.
Orders > Deconstruct > click and drag.

You're going to like that menu.
Two tiers of construction jobs.  One for expensive/quality items, and one for walls/floors/etc.

Some streamers and YTbers do indeed select rock wall/plant and manually set order once it is selected, some have have sick APMs doing that, years of StarCraft must be taking toll on them...

Nevertheless I cri evri tiem someone do not drag orders in orders menu.  :P

The orders menu is what I was missing ... that is for sure! :) That just changed the game for me. hehe

It would be nice if these orders were better integrated into the individual actions. i.e, I select a mining square, a tree, etc, and I have access to the correct, in-context order item.

For example, I select a squre, and I can choose to individually order it get mined, or I can select an option to mine an area (i.e. same command, just available from another view). That would be more intuitive to new players.

Thank you for the tip!

Or even worse, when they are both doing that and also not using the letter shortcuts, so they select a tree for instance and then instead of hitting the shortcut key, they mouse to the bottom, click 'cut.' Mouse to next tree, select, mouse to bottom, click 'cut.' Repeat ad nauseam!
