I do use mods but I have tried moving out any mods that could cause any issues (ones altering tiles on the world map and such) and have had no luck. Even if I try to load the game with no mod changes it just gives me an error message. I have also tried creating a new game but after I hit generate World it sits there for a moment then just sends me back to the screen where I can choose how cold/warm and how rainy I want it to be. I have checked the integrity of the game files through steam and there were no issues there. If you need me to pull up any logs just tell me where to find them and I will

Posting a log file means uploading the log RimWorld generated. Here's where to find it:
Windows (Steam): C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RimWorld\RimWorldWin_Data\output_log.txt
Windows (non-Steam) has TWO possible locations:
RimWorld####Win\RimWorld####Win_Data\output_log.txt
%userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Ludeon Studios\RimWorld by Ludeon Studios\output_log.txt
Mac (Steam): Users/<UserName>/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log
Mac (non-Steam): /Users/[your user name]/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log
Linux (Steam): /home/<UserName>/.config/unity3d/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld/Player.log
Note: You must run RimWorld from the console or the log file will not be created.  If you don't run RimWorld from the console, you may find the log at /tmp/rimworld_log
Linux (non-Steam): /home/[your user name]/.config/unity3d/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld/Player.log

Once a log file is provided, someone here may be able to assist you.

Okay, so, from the looks of the log file, the saved colonies you are attempting to load are originally from the Alpha 14 release of RimWorld, is that correct?

If so, unfortunately, Alpha 14 and 15 saves are not compatible with the Alpha 16 release.

As for the reason why you cannot start a new colony, I an unsure as to the exact cause.
My best guess would be that you either have an extra copy of some or all of the "Core" files, or that you have a mod installed that is incompatible with Alpha 16.

If an installed mod is the cause, disabling all mods, (except Core,) restarting RimWorld, and then attempting to start a new colony should resolve the issue.

On the other hand, fixing the game with a damaged, duplicate, or missing "Core" files folder would involve:
Disabling all mods. (Except Core!)
Uninstalling RimWorld.
Installing RimWorld again.

Unfortunately, I am unable to provide further assistance in this area, as I do not have that much experience with these types of issues.

If you wish, you can wait for another person to provide an alternative to my suggestions, as there may be other alternatives to try first.
Best of luck to you.

Thanks a lot for the help! :D the strange thing is my colonys are A16 and when i look at the save list it says its a good version, so i will try disabling all my mods ive downloaded and starting a new colony, and seeing if after that i can turn said mods back on and try the saves again
