When will the colonists be pregnant ?

I wonder if in the future it would be possible for women settlers to be pregnant (although there will be problems of legality with forced labor of children, drugs, organ trafficking and violence)

And it may be precise on the site, but since I can not understand very well and speak in anglait (I am french) it is very difficult for me. (Excuse me if you do not understand too much as I write, google translation this is not very reliable)

This gets suggested all the time.  If it's going to get implemented, it will get implemented.  It's unlikely that any new information will surface from another topic.

There is the possibility that having kids side-steps some game dynamics such as how we currently acquire new colonists and the developer doesn't want this.  Since animals have pups and the game tracks them genomically it wouldn't be a big step to see kids in the game.  I know my first game I kept waiting for my hetero couples to have children and had to look up why it wasn't happening. 

I'm not sure if I'd want that or not for the reasons specified.

Considering the game already tracks lineage and genomics for humans as well as animals--the latter of which is far more complicated--human offspring is very doable and the game is already set up for it. The game even tracks when a bonded animal dies in a rival colony.

Well, given that you would need to feed children for 10+ years before they become useful as colonists (not to mention uncountable sleepless nights for their parents in the time after birth), they would be a really time consuming investment. I guess that time frame (and the amount of resources required) is beyond most colonies (basically, in that time frame most colonies either went to space or the player lost interest and started a new one).

Honestly, while the idea is nice, I do think its pretty hard to balance the game in implementing it. As Hoffmale pointed out, you'd require significant investment in them, your current pawns being occupied or even incapacitated by it, and the amount of resources in the time frame just doesn't make it viable.

Eh, I feel like RimKids wouldn't be too much of a hassle if balanced correctly. Have a job of childcare or just stick it in with wardening somehow? You'd have at least 3/4 of a year to establish yourself before having to take care of them.

Plus, it wouldn't be hard to implement a new pawn stat "reproductive" to help determine the chance for impregnation.

Assign it to the gonads, and you're suddenly capable of castrating pawns to remove the chance of impregnation all together. Drugs and implants could offset the stat to close to 0% (birth controls). Or, on the flip side, have another drug that ups the stat for players who are looking to boost the population of a colony more quickly.

I think it would be quite the educational opportunity :)

Thank you for your answers.
I think that for the management of the baby and toddler it will not be unmanageable.
And then towards the age of 5-6 the child will still be able to do small jobs like gardening, mining, transporting, cleaning and fireman; They will also be able to take care of themselves (remember you at 6 years old ::))

One of the only problems and like saying up, legality. >:(

+ Thirite thanks for your mod I tested it and it is very useful  :P (just some bugs to correct)

I just wish we did not have to install mods to have babies in rimworld. :-\
