Caravan Cancelation - Where is My Stuff? [Update - Not a bug]

So I ran into the caravan exhaustion problem and had to cancel the caravan generation... now I wonder where all my stuff has gone. Everything I had loaded onto the little dromedary is nowhere to be found. Will it come back when I return to forming the caravan or is everything gone forever?

Have you checked the gear tab on the little dromedary?

Oh. Sorry to bother you with my incompetence. I didn't know animals could have a gear tab until now.
