Hello,

for some reason I have a big drop in FPS (>15) when I run the game in the fastest game mode. I don't use any mods.

1. What the circumstances were.
I play the game and once I turn the speed up the game speed on fast or fastest setting, the frame rate drops significantly (~25 FPS fast game mode, ~15 FPS fastest game mode)

2. What happened.
When I speed up the game speed, the frame rate drops

3. What you expected to happen.
That the FPS are not dropping below a certain threshold, e.g. 30 FPS

4. Steps we can follow to make the bug appear on our machine. This part is important! We need a set of steps which we can follow to get the same results you're seeing. Ideally you'll test these steps to make sure they work from scratch.
Load my provided safe game file and turn the game speed on fastest mode.

Thanks for the great game!

That's just how the game is: it only utilises one core on the CPU, so single-threaded performance determines how well your game will perform CPU-wise.

You're in the year 5515, and 19 FPS in that screenshot is honestly not too bad for the year. I typically get around 20-25 FPS with vanilla when fully zoomed out in the year 5507.

Oh ok, I didn't know that. That explains it pretty much, as my colony is getting quite large with lots of pawns etc.

Illusion Distort

This is commonly reported as a bug, I see one of these reports every month or so. Good luck with the large colony, nice setup btw. :)

This mod will help: https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=30114.0
It purges "inactive" pawns from the game so they don't need to be tracked and simulated.  I found a few extra FPS on a 5 year old colony by enabling that.

I've also found the Colonist bar mod can take 5 to 10 fps off my game once I have too many pawns, disabling it is a quick and easy boost.

As other have said, this is not a bug per se, and is simply the result (consequence) of having a large mature colony. Performance for such colonies might/should improve during the course of development, but at the moment the reality is that if you have a large mature colony, then you are pretty much certain to experience lag (especially when using the fastest game speed).

Not using mods certainly helps, as does running only one colony, as well as limiting the number of times you visit other colonies. Although in the case of the latter, the mod posted by DrStalker might help (although there might be some risk in using it as it modifies your save file, so please make sure to back up your save file first).

Anyway, I will close this thread now as a non-bug (and Tynan is aware of the late game performance issues, so doesn't need another open thread on the matter).
