We were jumped by pirates while away from base tending the garden. Outnumbered, everyone ran for the cover of our auto-turrets, but my best starting combatant, a frontier marshal who went by the name Blades, was downed by the invaders.

They kidnapped her, killed a chicken and left. I was glad she wasn't dead and figured they would offer to take a ransom for her return. So I started saving up, making deals with the visitors for silver until I had $4000. Surely that would be enough when their chief came calling.

But then I got a call from someone running from pirates, begging for protection -- It was Blades! She had escaped custody and ran back to our base. This time we trounced the pirates, and she hopped back into her assigned bed with her old boyfriend Jeff the Miner.

Loved every minute of it.
