Improving Faction Goodwill

How do you improve your 'goodwill' with other factions?

Once you build a comms console you can talk to each faction from there. The only way I've found currently is to offer them 300 silver. However I don't believe there is a way to improve your goodwill with them if they are hostile.

Yes you can be friends with the other colony's but raider pirates will always be raiders and attack you. It would be pointless if you could be friends with everyone that's what Friendly mode is for.
