My squirrels won't wake up!

When I ran short on vegetarian food (due to poor planning), my wise colonists realized "Beer has nutritional value!  I shall give beer to the starving squirrels."

2 squirrels were liquored up, and are both blacked out.  They have been blacked out for days, with no signs of recovery.  Their alcohol tolerance-level is massive (down to 28% effectiveness) one has developed Cirrhosis, and the other Cancer and Brain-Damage.

Normally I wouldn't care, but I was trying to start up a squirrel-farm, and although I had 3 male squirrels, one died of a heart attack, and the other two are dying of alcohol poisoning.

Is there anything I can do to save my squirrels?  Get them to wake up long enough to breed the next generation would be ok too, but it doesn't seem likely.

Thanks for the hearty laugh.

And I don't think so. Try forcing your doctor to treat them.

Ok, the brain-damaged cancer-squirrel woke up with a splitting headache the next day, but the liver-cirrhosis squirrel was still blacked out.  It is possible that liver health plays some role in the clearance of alcohol from the system.

3 days later, the cirrhosis-squirrel woke up too.  I guess patience is what it takes.  The alcohol levels in these cute furry animals must have been off the charts!  I guess it just took that many days to come to the point where they could be conscious again.

Moral of the story: Don't feed small animals their own body-weight in booze.

This is a rollercoaster of emotions.
Don't mind the questions. I'm probably just confused.

Reluctant to understand that at first, glad it worked out nicely :D

I had a group of visitors (with the Hospitality mod installed) leave my colony some beer once.. A wild rabbit decided it was thirsty.... Yeah. Had a very trashed rabbit hobbling about for a while. I died laughing.

You've think you've seen everything until you see an intoxicated bear who just drank all your beer.

I've never been so grateful to see green filthy smears all over the place.  Squirrel-vomit is the symbol of Hope and of the Future.

It's only funny until somebody gets cancer.  Then it's hilarious!

If you *really* care for your squirels, you should get an animal surgery mod. That'll also allow for some bionic combat squirels.

You could try one from Steam workshop, on Rimworld, search: A Dog Said... (it's an animal surgery mod) Make sure you pick the one for the latest version of Rimworld.
