unknown mod preventing comms working, cannot right click pawn to it

I cannot right click on the comms unit to get any pawn to try and call any trade ships or other tribes. I have everything set up like normal, and I am getting messages about trade ships in the area. I'm only a few years into the save game.

I don't know if it's "persistent worlds" "more vanilla tribes"?
There is a bunch of yellow and red code when I start the game, which was probably an indication of something...
I am hoping someone really smart can figure it out quick. Great game and awesome community.

Basically I used persistent worlds mod, and started a new faction without ever electing a leader in the prior game faction. So my own leaderless abandoned faction from the old game was messing up the new game. Force coded a leader into the faction and it's all good.
