I really hope you like this Tynan. I did my best to not end up with another "bunker" play through :)

PS I can provide an archive with raw uncompressed BMP pictures if you like any of these.

Timber: Love it! Got any at different times of day? It looks like you took those at midday with rain, which isn't great as there are basically no shadows and the light is very flat.

My A5 colony right before A6 was released.
[that's a big one]
I love those concrete(?) paths coming out of the south entrance. I've never built any roads because so far I've thought "They'll just help the raiders get here faster" but now that I think about it, a few roads on few selected spots could still be far more useful to the player in the longterm than to any random raider patrol. Who knows, with roads one could potentially direct the raiders into predictable locations, which is the main component of any ambush or trap. The bigger the map, the bigger the incentive to put some roads, especially if it's desert (sand). Hmmm. Hmhmhm...

Here are some brighter ones:

Also for some contrast I've added tree farm being harvested at daytime and same place being raided at night.

Those roads were to help my miners and haulers. It was a biggish map with almost no mountains at all, so my poor colonists had to walk a long way to and from the mine sites over vegetation and around obstacles. It's totally worth doing if your guys are consistently walking to a distant place on the map.

The colony looks the way it does again because there were hardly any mountains. Every building and every bedroom had to double as a defensive structure.

Hey muffins. How did you get those openings in your walls. I would like to be able to construct something like this as well to have "windows" to shoot through.

Those are embrasures from the marvellous embrasure mod.

Pro-tip - treat them like sandbangs for cover, meaning have your guys stand against the wall next to an embrasure so they do their "peak-around-a-corner" thing for extra cover. If they stand directly in front of the embrasure they'll get hit more often  ;)

These are amazing! Ty, I know you read this thread. Can we *please* get something like this in the game? (I prefer to play without mods if I can help it.) Pretty please!

Love your flowerhouse by the beach there!
Time to expand the prison area though, yes? =P

For flu, try a cock. If that doesn't work, try boobmilk. Nice.

I hadn't fired so much as one shot at this epic column of seigers yet.  Turns out, there are things that are scarier than mortar shells landing all around you...

Just landed on a rimworld with four totally not random survivors, courtesy of the Prepare Carefully mod by EdB. :)
