go back and replay bastion, that game is great.

My thought process:

  • This is fantastic!
  • Oh, I died again.
  • That guy seems decidedly enigmatic.
  • Damnit, died again.
  • This really is very good.
  • Is this click-spamming helping or hurting?
  • DAMNIT

Maybe I'll end up doing what I did on Thomas Was Alone; play the second half by shouting the puzzle solutions at a YouTube video.

Skeletor_101

being bad at something is just a step towards getting better at it.

Jaguar

Hi everyone :)

I'm Jaguar and I found out about Rimworld in a rather roundabout way: my friend Pegasus Epsilon (https://twitter.com/pegasusepsilon was tweeting Blitzkriegsler (https://twitter.com/Blitzkriegsler) about a more efficient '5x4' layout for hydroponics. I eventually found out he was referring to Rimworld and watched the video Blitz posted about 'Efficient Hydroponics' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYzEtvFUg2E). Then I watched the trailers for the games and after seeing all of this footage i was already sold, and when I read about the 'AI Storyteller' system I basically said 'hell yeah!' and coughed up $30!

I've only played the alpha for about 10 minutes so far, but it certainly seems to be a unique blend of genres form what I've seen so far. I have high hopes!

What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?
I was snooping around for a game similar to Prison Architect on steam, and someone linked to a video of RimWorld. I was hooked.
What's your favorite other game?
Too difficult, but I'd narrow it down to Democracy 3, Prison Architect, or RimWorld.
Most embarrassing gaming-related story?
Well, really I kept doing something wrong and my brother was yelling at me to do the thing that was right, so he yanked the controller from me and did the right thing in the game.
Twas a hard game.
Hard game indeed.
What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?
Me Lucky Charms are the best.

Vespaciao

Hi i am Bert from the netherlands.

I have stumbled upon this jem and am trying out the 250 build. So far no bugs for me. Probably played it for days now.

Facechild

Hello,
I am known as Facechild. I came across this game watching people like Scott Manly do let's plays, and thought it looked interesting. I finally broke down and bought the Alpha and I have to say, I love this game, My first few colonies failed miserably after the 3rd or so wave of raiders, but I have now got this game down to a science and have no trouble surviving indefinitely on randy random and am now trying out Kassandra.

I enjoy many games, but much prefer games where you can create things, such as Blockland, Minecraft or Garry's mod.
I am currently in college taking architectural Drafting and have a strong interest in art.

That is all.

So, about me huh?
I'm probably one of your older generation Gamers here. I've played the original Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom on the Atari. I've also got experience with the original Pitfall when it came out.

My real true love of gaming really came out when I was younger and playing on the Apple ][+ and the original Wizardry or Ultima ][. Absolutely loved that game and had to play ]|[ and IV... gave up on V because I somehow thought it wasn't as developed as IV. Didn't even give 6 a try or 7. 8... wasn't on the radar and when the 3d version came out, Ultima IX Acension, I thought it was going to be the most awesome game on the market. But poor engine design really detracted from the overall game, despite it being one of the first forerunners to the 3d RPG game genre. I also played the original Wolfenstein. Not 3d... Wolfenstein and Beyond Wolfenstein from the early 80s. :)

I'm all over the place on gaming really. I don't do consoles and am purely a PC gamer. I've got a lot of experience with a large variety of games. You can find a spreadsheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkUbjIE9zH5TdHRhTUxFVDVvTFdVcGk1VjdKZEplWVE&usp=sharing (Sorry, I haven't updated it in forEVER!) So, you can see my gaming history is pretty in depth.

In a sense, when I play games, I can always figure out how something works in a game (e.g. events that are done through triggers, scripted, AI, etc) just by playing the game for a little while and I always seem to know if something was intentional or purely by accident. Call it a gut feeling... :)

How did I come across Rimworld:
I started playing Kerbal Space Program and saw Scott Manley had a video of him playing Rimworld. I was instantly attracted to the game, due to its "story-building" aspect. I like to play games to see how things could go and like to develop a bond with the characters I'm playing. So, Rimworld seemed right up my alley.

My favorite other game(s):
I absolutely loved the original Ultima IV. In my opinion it is still the epitome of the RPG genre. I'm also a big fan of the Elder Scrolls series and find that Skyrim is probably their best work graphically. However, game mechanics and design are best left to Morrowind. (I loved that running increased your athleticism skill; that whacking a training doll made your weapon skill go up, etc.) I was also a big fan of the Dark Forces series of games, though Jedi Knight Academy seemed to fall short of my expectations.

Most embarrassing moment in gaming:
I don't think I have one?

Favorite Breakfast cereal:
Fruity Pebbles. Hands down. I buy a box, it's gone that day. Jethrobowl of Fruity Pebbles... that is why I only buy a box a year. Hopped up on sugar for months after an episode like that. I always feel like I have to check myself into a Fruity Pebble Anonymous after eating a box (I can't even say "eating a bowl" cause that'd be a lie).

So... I take issue with a comment by you Tynan...

-What's your favorite other game?
Deus Ex. Yep, still hasn't been matched in terms of world development and story.
Hrmph... really? The Elder Scrolls series has no world development or story? How about Ultima I - IX...errr... VIII. IX was just a friggin' ball of mess. :) Personally, I think Deus X was good... but there are plenty of games that outclass Deus X in terms of story, history and overall design as well. Heck... there's Elder Scrolls and Ultima Fan Fiction... don't even know if Deus X fan fiction exists.

*steps off the soap box*

Hi! I'm Olaf. I bought this game a few hours ago and I love it.
Looks like a combination of Gnomoria and Prison Architect.

RimWorld know from Wenzo - Polish live-streamer, but I feel like I already heard that name before.

It is one of my TOP 3 games. Together with Minecraft and Project Zomboid (All are number 1).

From the most breakfast cereals I Like wheat roasted with honey and nuts. :D

Tdsola218

Hello, I was introduced to RimWorld by a viewer in my stream. I am always on the lookout for a new game to get addicted to and RimWorld was an instant hit. I played/streamed it for the first time today and had a lot of fun with it. I also inspired a few other people to buy in as well.
An interesting other point is that have started my "Stream Dream Challenge"! I am giving myself six months to make streaming what I do. Entertaining people is something that I always have enjoyed and i think sitting in front of a webcam where everything is live and unscripted is a great way to do it. Look forward to seeing you around the forums!
I Stream Daily on twitch.tv after 3pm cst. Feel Free to Stop by www.twitch.tv/Tdsola218

-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?
MathasGames over at youtube, I've been watching his stuff recently and as soon as I started to watch his playthrough of RimWorld I became enchanted by it

-What's your favorite other game?
Man, that's a hard quest...Well Morrowind is one of them, it introduced and enchanted me with TES lore, Crusader Kings 2 is a huge favorite due to my love of history, Deadly Premonition looks as if it was made just for people like me, and there are so many more.

-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?
Don't really have one that I can think of.

-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?
I'll pretty much eat anything.

Hi, My name is Russ Chaplin so from a kid I have always been called Charlie. My grandfather was called Charlie and he always insisted that we are related to the famous one as our family come from the same area of England that Charlie Chaplin did. So hence CharlieC as a user name.

-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?

I saw the game on greenlight and thought it looked my cup of tea. I have always loved building games and throw in a space theme and combat  has got to result in a winner!

-What's your favorite other game?

At the moment my fgavorites are Gnomoria, Towns and two hardcore wargames from Matrix Games: War in the Pacific admirals edition & Gary Grigsby War in the East. Favs from the past are the Jagged Alliance franchise, Combat Mission franchise, Heroes might & Magic franchise, the early X-com games, Rebelstar Raiders and Chaos on the Speccy! I have been gaming on the computer since 1978 on the videogenie/TRS80.

-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?

That I am still gaming as much after all this time!

-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?

I don't do cereal - dodgy tum rejects gluten etc so good old eggs & Bacon, sausages, black pudding, mushrooms, baked beans, tomato with a giant mug of tea will do me in a pinch.

I trained as a fine artist specialising in bizarre performance art so will post a few strange pics at some point! I currently run a business selling rare records but also write and act for TV. Credits including writing and performing comedy pieces for Discovery's Top Ten ways series a few years ago which had titles such as Top ten ways the world will end, ways to spot a monster etc. Little Aliens (C4 pilot), History of Sex (C4) and am working at the moment on a documentary about cults.
