game freezing every few seconds

I am currently 2+ years into a colony and all of a sudden it starts freezing every few seconds then comes back, I am running mods (hugslib, hospitality, edb prepare carefully, jecstools, glittercraft, star wars lightsabers/factions/force and tiberiumrim) but no errors are showing in the logs I can load up a previous save but when getting to the same part it freezes again, has anyone seen this before or know a workaround for this?

If the log file is error free then it sounds like you might just be hitting the lag wall that is pretty much inevitable at some point with late game colonies. And the freezing might coincide with the moment the game runs a scheduled check (such as Pawns checking their needs). Although you didn't mention several variables which would help to determine if this was normal lag or not. ("normal" in the sense that's it's certainly not desirable, but right now as of A17b it is normal to experience some lag in late game and especially under certain circumstances)

- What speed setting this lag was occurring at? All speeds, or just the higher two?
- How many Pawns / Animals you have? (how much general stuff you have?)
- How many colonies you have?
- Probably several other things I can't remember to ask right now.

Although what you mention here is curious...

What do you mean by "same part" here? And how far back is this previous save?

As if you are doing something specific like raiding an enemy base, and the game starts freezing at this point. And after you load the previous save you do the same raid again, and again it freezes, then it might be something specific causing the freezing rather than it being "normal". But that all depends on what you mean by "same part". As it could mean "once you returned home from raiding a base" or "once a particular date was hit" (IIRC I've seen some posts reporting FPS drops when bringing prisoners back from raids, so if the former then maybe that's the cause).

Although to be honest either way I'm not sure there's going to be a solution for your issue in this particular save game. As if it's just normal lag then there's nothing to be done about that apart from the obvious (less mods, less Pawns, less and smaller everything). And if it's a bug then besides making sure it gets reported properly to the devs, it's not going to be addressed until the next update. Which again doesn't help solve this issue for you in the here and now.

Thanks for the reply ill answer as best as I can:

- What speed setting this lag was occurring at? All speeds, or just the higher two? - All speeds
- How many Pawns / Animals you have? (how much general stuff you have?) 6 men per colony ( 3 colonys)
- How many colonies you have? 3 colonies one moan on map moving from one to another

I got the save up to around a minute before the game started crashing, I am just doing the usual: building a few new rooms in one colony while hauling steel into drop pods in another, the third colony are all asleep

would a mod that cleans and removes world pawns possibly stop the crashing?

milon

It's possible.  If you have too many active pawns, and they're all asking for jobs/pathing/etc, yes that's a big CPU drain and if you reduce the number of pawns (ie. by deleting trivial/dead/missing pawns) you can reduce the CPU load.

You could also upload your log file (see link in sig) if you want us to take a look just in case.

Thanks for the reply which log file do you need? and where can I get this, I will get it uploaded as soon as possible

Wait, so is the game freezing momentarily every few seconds, or is it outright crashing? As your OP suggests the former, but here you talk about the game crashing. I'm a bit confused now as to what issue you are having (an actual crash is less likely to be lag related and more likely to be caused by a specific "thing").

The output_log.txt file is the file milon asked for. Details on where to find it can either be found via the link in his signature (as milon mentioned), or the following link (which are one and the same). https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=513.0

So which log(s) were you referring to in the OP when you said "no errors are showing in the logs"? I assume you must mean the in-game log then, which is not exactly the same thing as the actual log file. If so then your issue might be caused by errors which are not showing up in the in-game log. But won't know until we can check your output_log.txt file (so please play the game again, or load a save, until it starts crashing/freezing. Then exit the game and post the log file generated as an attachment).
