While not one of my colonists, I did rescue a woman who crash landed. However, she was in a hurry to get out of my colony, even though she was married to somebody in my colony.

I take her to the hospital and patch her up. As soon as she can walk she wanders off, slowly as she can't move fast, and ends up getting eaten by a cougar.
Should I feel bad that nearly half my posts are in the off topic section?

I had a couple of deaths last night that were kind of silly. But it'll require a story!

A trade caravan had just showed up on the map, and was wandering towards our base when I got the "manhunter pack incoming!" warning. I looked over at it, and ... it was about 25 labradors. Luckily, they were on the opposite side of the map from the caravan, and seemed content to just run around in circles barking at the wall between two big hills.

So I kept an eye on them, and went back to work. Traded some stuff with the caravan, and then they started to head out. Apparently at that point the giant dog-pack decided "hey guys, there's more stuff over there! We can go AROUND this wall!" So the whole pack starts running along, barking madly, straight for the caravan. Shit.

The colonists grab their weapons and start sprinting out to try and help the caravan, who gets cornered in a valley near the exit of the map, and just SWARMED by the dogs. They all get savaged horribly, while my colonists try to shoot the dogs and save the caravan. Unfortunately there were just too many dogs, and several colonists suffered heavy injuries as well, though no deaths. Yet.

We dragged the wounded (including two members of the caravan who didn't die) back to the base to patch them up. Blood EVERYWHERE. I'm frantically trying to find beds for everyone, as the hospital wasn't set up for that many wounded at once (silly me, thinking 6 hospital beds would be fine for a colony of only 12 people). It's like herding cats, as people keep getting up and wandering around, despite their massive injuries.

Then I see a "colonist needs rescue" message pop up. Crap, did someone pass out? I click on it, and see the colony's geologist passed out about a half-mile from the colony. Apparently, despite massive bleeding, she decided "hey, you know what? I'm going to go pick up that random boulder on the far side of the map, even though it's not marked to be hauled!"

So I grab the janitor (she's not good at anything except dumb labor, but she's got jogger, so she's quick) and have her sprint to try and collect our wayward geologist. She gets there before she bleeds out, grabs her, and starts hauling ass back to the colony. The geologist is going to bleed to death in about 3 hours. It's a good 90m or so run back to the base, so it's going to be really close.

I kick some of the other colonists in the ass to get them to finish fixing people up (because, you know, having a snack is clearly WAY more important than putting a bandaid on your friend who's gushing blood), and then see the game drop into combat time. Oh what the hell NOW!?

I look around, and then with dawning horror realize that the janitor, who was dragging the geologist back to the base, is under attack by a wolf. Apparently all that blood made it smell like lunch time. So the poor janitor is staggering along, getting repeatedly mauled, while two other colonists start running out to save her. They manage to get there and kill the wolf before it kills the janitor, though she's bleeding and down. So the two of them grab the geologist and the janitor and start running back towards the base again. The geologist has about an hour before she bleeds out, which MIGHT be enough time to get her into the medbay and patch her up quickly if we do it fast.

Just as they're getting to the tunnel that leads into the colony...

RAID!

4 drop pods land right at the front door, and out spill some mechanoids. Right in front of the two that were carrying the janitor and the geologist back to the base.

Explosions, pulse fire, and a few metallic "ping!"s later, all four of them were lying dead on the ground. The victims of a horrible conflux of random events.

So I sighed, shook my head, and reloaded the last save. Hmph. :)

Oh the best horrible death I ever had is when my colonists where out mining a large mineral chunk and I made sent some pods to resupply them with the essentials more food and peno.  So once the pods are full i launch them aiming them right outside the makeshift home i contributed since they would be there for a couple weeks.  Only one of my colonists was inside my soldier/hunter who was there for protection.  The damn drop pod crashes through the rough and decapitates him and makes me facepalm as i stare at his lifeless body.

Bastobasto

One of my  colonist starved to death even if we had full of food, because he was binging with alchool.

Count Wyu

I let a wimpy pyromaniac get trapped and die helplessly by a squirrel

But the worst unintentional death was caused by roof collapsing during a event of toxic fallout, my lone character collapsed in need of rescue..

In open fight, I can survive raids of pirates with pistols, shotguns and assault rifles. I can even survive mechanoid waves. But I've already lost 3 shooters as they got shot with nothing else but great bows throughout tribal raids.

Evillee

I like to solo raid tribals
Using my Glitter World Soldier Colonist with 15 in shooting and melee with modded godlike power armor, using a laser sword to cut through the lowly peasants bodies as their arrows hit my shield belt's force field. Their puny weapons bounce off my armor as I kill their woman and sickly while I laugh at their absurd gods. I lead them on a wild goose chase as I revel in my invincibility, OH NO THEY HAVE A CATAPULT!!! The catapult launches a barrel of explosives at me as a laugh in the face of death, for I am what they call god! I am unharmed by the blast. Their bodies pile around m-some guy just hit me in the neck and killed me instantly.

Turns out that mod forgot to include the neck.

Deer87

Although not a colonist death;

Im playing with the Combat expanded mod

I hade taken upon me the task of clearing a raider hideout for one of my neighbours, without going into details of the raid itself (and the embarrasing long time it took me to realize that there was a door in the rock wall), the reward was delivered to my colony... pr. droppod... right through the roof... of my ammunitions depot... killing one of my tame boomalopes... setting fire to the remaining ammunition... causing bullets to fly everywhere killing my chief's pet hen (he was rather upset) and shattering the shin of the cook.

That was when i decided to put my ammunition outside of the livingarea and build it out of more sturdy materials than wood

"Scythers? Do not worry my friends, I can handle this!"
- is what he would have said, if the first shot the Scyther fired didn't completely obliterate his heart from this plane of existence, that seemed pretty unlikely, kinda unfair.
With him dead, his buddy went to take his revenge. I hope he liked that fancy meal he had for breakfast, 'cuz the second shot that Scyther fired through a set of sandbags took-out his stomach, dead instantly.
Why are you focusing on having a personal life rather than updating a mod that you're not paid to work on?

If there's a mistake in my post, please message me so I can fix it!

Just landed in a desert, two of my colonists are diligently hauling supplies into our makeshift shelter. The third guy was a medieval lordling or something like that, and deemed manual labor to be a task unfit for one of his stature. He spends the first two days being completely useless - couldn't haul, couldn't cook, couldn't do anything really except hunt and tame animals. I am frankly fed up with him at this point, and I imagine my other two colonists are too. Then fate delivers us all some relief.

The lordling goes out for a morning stroll and is promptly mauled by a mountain lion. If I didn't know better, I could have sworn the mood buff from New Colony Optimism actually increased.

One pathetic and probably most memorable for me was an innocent pacifist that decided to join the wrong colony .  Our poor colonists was recovering from a rather vicious squirrel maiming and decided she was good enough to leave her hospital bed and brace the mess hall.  Sitting down in her usual seat she started on her muffalo meat meal.  Shouts and sirens start to blaze as the report of an enemy mortar team nearby sounds.  The team gets their mortal set and fire , the rest of the colonists arm themselves with assault rifles , clubs and a sniper rifle.  Animal and colonist alike charge toward the enemy all except our lone pacifist who continues to enjoy her meal.  The first mortar launches over my colonists heads and sails , sails , sails into the heart of my base landing right on that delicious muffalo meal .  The shell explodes and my poor pacifist becomes the first victim in the siege.   I've never made a shot like that and never have seen one hit so perfectly! RIP

I had another one it was after a raid on an enemy encampment .   The battle was bloody , no casualties on our side but sickness.  Everyone e gets inside and it starts to rain.  My doctor is running around in and out of the building getting meds and treating the wlunddd.  The rain turns to a thunderstorm and as my doctor steps out into the storm ZAP!! Bolt of lightning to the head killing the wounded good doctor.

BetaSpectre

Implemented a misfire mod, gun explodes, shooter dies. The explosion knocks out everyone else, raiders kidnap everyone.
