Hello.

Basically I had 84 mods earlier this week and I wanted to remove increased forest density to make way for vegetable garden, well I think this is when the problem started. I forgot as I have been trying to fix it on my own for the past 3-4 days.

Once I started a new game, grass, trees and plants in the map would start to take 10 damage per tick, until they died. Plants that would come in from the edges however would not take any damage. This is managable, but the real problem was that plants that I would plant always took damage.

Naturally I thought that if I un-installed the game from steam, removed all mods, cleaned up the game directory and the Ludeon Studios folder in Locallow the game would be back to normal. Alas it did not help. I thought maybe the steam cloud sync could be causing it so I did another un-install, cleaned folders and deactivated steam sync but problem still persists.

Starting a new game with core + SS damage indicator (to detect the problem) the problem still persists.

I am hoping someone may have any ideas on what this is, and how to fix it?

If you click on an "info" icon on a plant, there is written how many days a plant can survive. When taht expires, it dies by taking damage.

So it's not a bug.

I have bushes and trees that aren't fully grown yet, that would die off this ticking damage. I've also planted flowers in pots that also would die off.

Have you performed a step-by-step clean reinstall? As maybe you missed some mod residue somewhere when you reinstalled and deleted files before. Step by step details and registry cleaner for this can be found in the following OP:  https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=4805.0 . If you still get the bug after a clean reinstall please post a vanilla save game demonstrating it.

Plus I loaded your save and did not see anything unusual happening re:plant damage.

Could you please reupload the savefile and the logfile? It seems that the links are not working anymore.

Calahan

I've attached the save (I still had it in my saves folder). I don't have the log file though unfortunately.

Thank you Calahan.

Some wild plants can die randomly like this. Plants have a limited lifespan which is set randomly when the map is generated. However the bug here is that trees don't reproduce.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues?

I advise you to change the name of the topic if you want people experiencing the tree don't reproduce bug to see this topic is what they are looking for.
I will never do worse than what I do now.
It's what self-improvement means.
