Chemfuel feedstock?

So what does everyone use to make chemfuel when they're on a treeless tundra or ice sheet?  I'm starting to manufacture mortar shells and discovered that chemfuel is now a requirement for them.  It looks like you need either 70 units of food or 70 units of wood to get it going.  Am I right to think that growing rice indoors will produce feedstock faster than trying to grow trees indoors?
If you give an annoying colonist a parka before banishing him to the ice sheet you'll only get a -3 penalty instead of -5.

And don't forget that the pirates chasing a refugee are often better recruits than the refugee is.

Rice on hydroponic indoors is prolly the better way then regular trees.

If you use mods, bamboo is a good choise.

human meat and kibble?
Oh, that's clever -- use the dead bodies your artillery shells make to make more artillery shells.  Nice!

Yes, I was thinking that direction -- I don't have a psychopath handy, but there's no penalty for butchering and stewing bug meat.

Butchering boomalopes or boomrats should give chemfuel, to be honest.

Or allow us to milk chemfuel from boomalopes.

There maaayy be a mod out there for this :P

good point, now that chemfuel is a thing it makes perfect sense for boomalopes to be milkable.

Having a cannibal to do butchery is a beautiful thing... guess I don't have to worry about ever running out of chemfuel with this colony!

Just come up with a better way to do it.
6 human meat/rice/potato = 1 nutrient paste
4 nutrient paste = 35 chemfuel.
Effectively means 24 human meat/rice = 30 chemfuel, 65% off!

Shurp

Yeah, I do have to micromanage a little and make sure my butcher eats a meal before he decides to, erm, make a meal of his own.

But I'm not going to do the nutrient paste thing, sounds like way too much micro.  And besides, there's more than enough bodies around, I don't know what I'm going to do with all this long pork.

This thread makes me wonder if there's room in the Mad Max franchise for a band of hooligans using thermal depolymerization to turn people into "guzzoline" :)

A few weeks ago a new Series aired, called Bloodrace.
It features a car that gets fueled by people ..
