(A17) Friendly military aid stuck on edge of map.

I had a faction military aid event whilst dealing with a poison ship, they rocked up and dealt with the last centipede (without casualties or injury) then left. I heard shooting about a game day later and noticed they were all milling about in the top corner of the map starving, breaking and killing each other. It wasn't until four were left and another broke that they started fleeing and finally left the map. http://imgur.com/a/qiMx9 There were a lot more, I'd already stolen the corpses in that pic. There was no negative faction hit, even though 90% of them died.

This error could be linked to another error, the ancient dangers activating themselves for no apparent reason. When there is a threat in your map, friendlies will come, and because the threat is inaccessible to them they will stay around doing nothing until they eventually flee when they start dying, being by killing each other or from hunger.

I used to lock the room to a cave in A16 that i had to farm insects, friendlies came regularly, but i blocked the door with walls, so they never got to the caves and that usually happened.

Yep, there's a fair chance the ancient danger bug is playing a part here. I'll assume this is a separate bug for now, and without more info to go on either way (eg. save file), but it wouldn't be any surprise if the aforementioned bug is the thing that's stopping the friendlies from retreating.

I've had that in this game too. I have 3 colonies (main and two small mining expansions), and I've had constant combat music since about 6 months into the game. All 3 bases are built next to ancient dangers, but only 1 of them was cleared out at this point.

I'm not sure what or why but I have seen this happen many times now.

In this particular game, I called in friendlies to fight a psychic ship.

They arrived, but because of a heat wave they decided to leave the map before I had even opened the ship.

The message was "friendlies from xyz are leaving because of dangeous temperature"

I saw them walking towards the south end of the map and thought ok, nothing I can do about that.

I was sad not to see them for the combat, but I was able to call in another faction and killed the ship, and forgot about the whole thing.

Until I get message "friendlies from xyz are fleeing"

and I see this.

So they have been standing there for a long time, I don't know how people got decapitated and all.

They all have heat stroke now. I suppose the headless ones were eaten by animals after they died.
I suppose someone went berserk from starving or from heat stroke.

Or maybe the starving living people started eating the corpses.

Either way, quite gross and not really supposed to happen.

I have had other times when I thought they stayed on the edge of the map because they were waiting for a downed or rescued person to join the group. But the same thing would happen, they would start dying (I haven't been watching them, just see a pile of corpses after a while).


I don't really mind, since I can rescue them and gain faction rep easily.

But it is clearly not WAD.
