I just bought the game, downloaded and unzipped it. When i launch the .exe i get to the menu, but also get a lot of "error" messages on the left side. Most them saying: error loading content from (c/user/blabla..... and then "could not open file." I checked to see if the files were there and they are.

I tried running as administrator, runnning in windows 7 compatability mode (i use windows 8 ), deleting the files and reinstalling, but nothing works and i cant seem to find anyone having the same problem.

Anyone know how to fix this?

What is the path in question? You can remove any personal stuff from it, but there may be a problem if it has special characters.

You should also post the errors in question, see if they are related to anything in particular.

Here are possible causes:

  • Game was unzipped incorrectly
  • A rare case of file corruption
  • Not enough permissions (read-only?)
  • You copied the RimWorld data and exe to a folder, but didn't copy the mods folder as well
  • You renamed or moved something incorrectly
  • There are special characters in the path

Yeah.. there is alot of possibilities on what maybe causing this.
Please go to
\RimWorld\RimWorld413Win_Data
and look for the output_log and share the txt file

Here is the output log.

I copied everything in the folder when i unzipped, the mods folder as well.
I have no idea what is causing this.

As far as i remember this one, problem might be in special character in your user name.

Move Rimworld to C:/RimWorld and check if it works then.
