Such a simple little thing. The texture of smooth stone is a little off-putting, practically a deterrent for me to not to use it. Perhaps a modder with nothing better to do could mod in an alternative? Image search with the words 'brown marble' seems to yield some nice alternatives. Although perhaps a simple color adjustment to some darker shade of brown might work just as well! The path for the smooth stone texture is Terrain/Surfaces/SmoothStone (for convenience)

Actually that brown marble is gorgeous.... might look in it soon
Linus Torvalds: "But it clearly is the only right way. The fact that everybody else does it some other way only means that they are wrong"
Robert J. Hanlon: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."

Ha! Thanks. That particular choice resembles copper. Bit tacky for my taste but oh well, it was random. Also, I'm an idiot in that I didn't realize how simple it was to replace textures. I thought I'd had to repack the texture into the assets file and... Bah! Anyway, for beginners like me, the mod provides a perfect template to experiment on, by switching images in and out. Thanks again.

Got inspired and tried to create a seamless marble image so that it would be difficult to see where the edges go. I'm an not an artist, so behold my visual butchery:

To install, download the mod provided by mrofa (above) and simply replace the image file in it with the one I provided there. In-game screenshots:

The pattern, repeated 9 times, in a 3x3 formation: http://i.imgur.com/pylP11b.jpg

Creating that image turned out to be quite an interesting journey, and I ran into some curious problems (logic-based problems). It was like solving a puzzle. Alas, I could only bother myself to use the blur and smudge tools. A can only imagine what a proper artist could achieve. Human eye does have a knack for pattern recognition, which I find exceedingly hard to deceive. At least I can't fool my own eyes!
