Ive been considering having a sort of nomadic playthrough but i feel like nomands and travilling is still lacking so ive been think about a quest sort of thing (yeah i know we have quest in game but listen). The same way we can go to faction bases and trade how about we could get quests from them aswell. Just an idea.    :-p
The Red Empire shall rise, The Red Empire shall grow... POTATOES!!!

I like the idea, but we will move far and far away from the game genre (it's space colony building game right?).

Well... not what exactly you're suggesting, but there is a mod called recon and discovery that add more world event. It's fun too.

.... sorry about stupid joke :-[. Here's your link to the mod : Recon & Discovery

One basic idea is that the friendly AI needs some specific items that you have to collect on your way to it.
(regarding dead man's apparel)

Agreed on the quests. I was under the impression that there would be tons of quest mods and custom outposts/villages after this last update but nothing.

As far as it being a simulation game, why confine it to that? The amount of detail on characters is what I can only dream of in most RPGs. A fog of war could easily change the game into a more strategy focused game. The more options, period, the better.

@khun_poo thanks ill be sure to check it out
@Crow_T not 100% sure what you mean could you explain
@anotherrimworld yeh i thought so too and as for fog of war https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=34724.0 i personaly dont like the idea of fog of war (mainly because i spend most of my time just looking at the wild animals while my colonists work on the projects i gave them) but yeh
The Red Empire shall rise, The Red Empire shall grow... POTATOES!!!

Sounds like a good plan.
@Redfire1200 .. there is a big quest to reach the location of friendly AI with a space-ship.
Crow_T would add some fetch-quests to this one, before the AI flies you off planet.

You know : Collect some Kaydarin Crystals, A Flux-Compensator, 200gr. of Unobtanium, The Super-McGuffin
a twinky, a bottle of jack, and yes I want fries with that.
Maxim 1   : Pillage, then burn
Maxim 37 : There is no overkill. There is only open fire and reload.
Rule 34 of Rimworld :There is a mod for that.
