Is stonecutting now back to a crafting only setup, and now generates no XP?

axeladalidez

It stopped giving XP since alpha 17.

And it's a silly change.  Stonecutters are *skilled* labor, folks.
Thanks, belgord!

QFT I never noticed but now I'm slight bothered by this not being classed as skilled labor and no xp

That is correct, and I don't think it is giving xp for anything now.

yes and no. The picture implies that the wall blocks are brick shaped. That would be skilled labor. However, you can just as easily break the chunks down into smaller, more manageable chunks to build with, and that would require very little skill.

O Negative

Given the beauty of stone floors, which use the same stone blocks as walls and other structures, I'd say it's the skilled kind of stone cutting.

It made sense under construction, and I'm not sure why it would be nerfed like this. Setting a builder to cut stone while I didn't need to develop any other building was a great way to keep his/her skill from decaying.

Beyond the question of being skilled or not i am pretty pissed from the fact that bricking gives construction xp but requires the crafting labor, which leaves me having crafting enables for my builder and unclear if craft or construct is used for work speed.

That second part is basically what I am asking about, this doesn't seem to be the same as 17 anymore. I am wondering if this is an intended change or a bug.

I still don't understand the reason for the initial change. My constructor(s) are ALWAYS busy, like 24/7. God forbid they have any useful skills besides construction, because they will probably never have time to train them. So stonecutting usually ends up being done by someone who's bad at construction, slowing down production considerably.

i end up with the opposite problem.  my crafters are always busy, so people assigned to crafting never get around to actually constructing anything.
