Key shortcuts to select a colonist?

I get this scenario often:
I want to trade/give a gift to a settlement or take out the mad muffalo before it can corner a single guy.
Where's my specialist? Open the colonist list, find the guy. Ah, RimWorld scrambled the order again.
Select his name. He is standing in a crowd. Click 5 times until you have him selected...

It would be so much nicer if we could assign a number key to a colonist. Press once to select him, twice to select and focus. Shift/Alt+number key could draft that colonist. Maybe we could even do this with buildings/zones?

It's not exactly a priority right now but it would be really 'nice to have' in the finished game.

I really appreciate the use of this system in almost any RTS/RTT or sandbox builder, it makes your day so much easier.

For instance, I'd have my entire force set to 1, snipers to 2, Miniguns to 3, Miscellanious rifles to 4, so on an so forth.

Or I'd base them on utilities, my cooks on 2, constructors on 3, etc.

I registered in the forums for requesting exactly this feature... we really could do with some more keyboard shortcuts.
I like how this game can result in quotes that would be quite unnerving when said in public, out of context. StorymasterQ

Agreed, something that needs to be added is the ability to preset defense positions for colonists. Something I have already seen in a mod that could probably be adapted to the Vanilla game.

For now, for those who don't know, you can cycle through colonists by pressing the "," key. Having the stats window opened when doing so can be quite efficient to check the weapon and shooting skill of a colonist in mere seconds. The other option would be pausing the game and check the 'Overview' window for their names. ^^

I think adding the ability to rebind keys at will would be quite helpful in the future, and not only for certain buildings and orders, but actual colonists.
