[0.18.1717] rimworld blackscreening exclusively on steam

When I open rimworld from steam, it loads on the initial loading screen for a few seconds then the screen goes black.

When opening directly from the exe, this does not happen (not that i can play that due to it not having my steam subscriptions)

Any suggestions?

after 2 days of hoping i finally decided to post this bug but now ive managed to get onto the main title screen and...oh...blackscreen...hm...

nvm, headgear framework can cause blackscreening when loading and launching the exe resets loaded mods

I moved this to support as blackscreen issues are rarely (never?) a bug with the actual game.

And thank you for posting again with an update to let us know you managed to resolve this. I have also merged your three four posts into one (it's preferable for users on this forum to edit their existing posts rather than posting replies to themselves, especially when such a short amount of time has passed between posts.
