Animal size and Predation

Dear Colonists,

I have question. When a predator gets hungry, he or she goes for predatating, if theres no passive food source.
As my experience and wiki told me, predators always go for prey that is smaller than they are.
Exept for me having a slightly idea of animal size ranking, I absolutely don't know for sure, how animal size is calculated.

Question now would be, what defines animal size and/or are there any ingame statistics/indicators which tells me how large they are?

Additionally is there any rule of thumb or a list which predator goes for which animals?

I am glad for hearing your overspreading Knowlege. Thanks in advance.

It's the bodysize value in the info overview.

This gets either calculated by weight or is given in the def file.
( Or the other way around .. )

The Ibex has a BodySize of 0.75, Humans have 1 and the Muffalo has 2.1.

Sadly I can't find the bodysize values of the hunters on the wiki or on my current map.
Hunters will go after prey that is equal or lower in bodysize then they are
Bears being the biggest predators ingame are the only ones that will hunt muffalos or similiar.

forgot about god mode :

wolf : 0.85
warg: 1.0
megaspider: 1.2
jaguar/cougar : 1.4
grizzly/polar : 2.15

Bodysize is also the second influence if an animal can be trained in rescue or hauling.

Maxim 1   : Pillage, then burn
Maxim 37 : There is no overkill. There is only open fire and reload.
Rule 34 of Rimworld :There is a mod for that.

This answer is correct. Thanks a lot!

For those checking, the bodysize of mature human pawns is 1.0.

Which leads me to believe that the logic has a fudge factor, since wolves will hunt colonists.

I believe that if no other food is close, then an animal will go after colonists. Nothing like having your ankles chewed off by a fox.

Who needs a force field when you can have a chicken field?

Certainly IME that is true: starving predators will predate upon whatever is nearest/easiest, whether it be a squirrel or a human

i can confirm i had a NON-manhunter arctic fox "hunt" and kill a badly wounded visitor i'd patched up who was limping off the map
