B18 disease rate higher?

My tundra colony of 5 pawns just got hit by the plague.  3 of them got it.  Is 60% the new norm for disease hits in B18?  It seems... surprisingly high.

I guess the real test will be to see what % survive...

And of course, that's when some scythers decide to show up and attack.

This is why I play with turrets.  My two remaining colonists were able to pull my turrets out of the killbox, plonk them on the far side of the base where the scythers broke through, and kill them.
If you give an annoying colonist a parka before banishing him to the ice sheet you'll only get a -3 penalty instead of -5.

And don't forget that the pirates chasing a refugee are often better recruits than the refugee is.

Did you have prisoners? they count for the disease events, up to half of the colony can get it. There is now a stat for frequency of disease on each tile on the map screen.

I did have two prisoners.  OK, I guess that makes sense -- three of seven pawns got infected.  I just didn't realize disease could hit half your colony.

Disease rate is pretty low on the tundra map I'm on, but I guess I'll blame Global Warming for melting the corpsicle of a plague victim from 200 years ago that my colonists accidentally made contact with.
