I've strip mined an entire section of rock yet the overhead mountain tag remains.  Is there a way to remove this designation for "bugs"?

Thanks, belgord!

You can't remove overhead mountains, but what you can do is put walls in the same tiles as overhead mountains which will stop hive spawns

You can't directly remove it, but if you mine enough rock away, the overhead roof will collapse, allowing you mine it away and remove the remaining thin wall.

Even if the mountain collapses, the overhead mountain will remain. However, I remember seeing droppods removing overhead mountains back in A15, so you could try that.

Who needs a force field when you can have a chicken field?

You can use the 'remove roof' tool in the dev tools, if i want a flat open map i just mine it all, plus using the tool to permanently remove the mountain.

Yes, you can, but keep in mind that the collapse will drop rubble in various locations, which will then need to be mined.  This rubble has the potential to one-shot the unlucky pawn caught underneath it.

It'd be pretty sweet if the collapsing overhead mountain acted like a DF atom smasher!

IIRC the overhead mountain doesn't go away if mined to collapse :( (this may have changed in B18)

It's not quite a DF atom-smasher, but it does do a lot of dmg..

Is this still work on B18? I really like to research the transport pod launcher and shoot the empty pod to the overhead mountain area.

If mined to collapse, the mountain's "roof" will start to recede as collapses keep happening, but it takes a lot of iterations before it would actually be gone.

Try expanded roofing mod it has install and uninstall thick rock roof

You can hold up the mountain with a wood pillar and then remove it slowly by setting it on fire.
