What if all the player friendly factions all decided to create a massive temporary trading spot which the player could go to (it would be a world mission which would require travelling) and it would be filled with many traders from different factions.

The player can only stay there for a day before leaving so that all the npc dont starve to death

Cool idea, but sounds kind of impractical. Something like that would be a huge target for raiders.

Sounds like a plan. Similar to an item stash but you get all different traders from all your friendly factions. Would be interesting loading up all your sellable items and heading off to get some bargains.

That could be a hook too. When you go and trade at a Trading centre you get to trade on an even footing with other traders. Now that would encourage some caravan work in players. Yes your used weapon is actually not worth bugger all its worth some real coin.
Mods I would recommend:
Mending, Fertile Fields, Smokeleaf Industries and the Giddy Up series.

The Mod you must have:

there could be a chance of raiders attacking but  all the traiders would fight back, it would encourage caravanning as the player has a higher chance of getting tems they want as there are more traders :-*

+1, and by the same token, buff the discount on prices when we visit npc factions. 4% to 10% or 15%, Rimsurance costs are high for travelling

If you put yourself into the minds of these factions it wouldn't be something intelligent to do at all. There's no upside to it and it's highly dangerous.

Realistically each faction would have to commit a significant amount of resources in getting there and setting up a position purely to buy and sell things. Have enough supplies to live there for a few days. Then tear it all down and haul it all back after. Or leave it all there which is a waste of resources and now there's an abandoned temporary trading post sitting in the middle of no where which could be "commandeered" by some less than savoury characters.

Not to mention you are essentially calling out to everyone "hey we're all gathering in this spot for a few days come trade with us". Which to a pirate it simply means "easy looting". It gives time for pirates to organise against a lightly defended position.

Sending out smaller caravans at random intervals is far safer. It gives any pirates no time to organise a large scale assault. And even if they do a successful raid on a caravan they tracked down it is unlikely they would have the means to transport most of the stolen goods. Since they wouldn't have brought any of their own pack animals.

Either way it's not a very good event. And what would it truely offer over simply visiting an outlander settlement? Which generally has everything you need.

Of course, the added danger of a raid is realistic within the game lore, but a quick and easy implementation would be not to generate a map for the event and just use the same trading interface used with friendly outposts. So the event could basically be a temporary trading settlement with more inventory and silver than usual.

i dont quite understand it as a contributing part of the game. you already should go out and trade with other settlements to get to see more items and be able to sell more of your stuff and anytime you wish to. additionally you already get a discount when you go there, i creasing the discount only imbalances the current system where it is an important part that your stuff loses value through selling because you can generate so much wealth so easily off the land.

i honestly need a good argument why having a fair or tradespot like this would be a good addition to the game when compared to visiting settlements regularly and caravaning your planet. it's what the npc's do afterall. besides, this seems to once again only be something for hoarders in mid- to lategame. nothing of interest in the beginning, when you dont have orbital trade going yet.

wait i actually do have an idea where you MIGHT wanna implement it: whenever you visit a settlement, there is a slight chance of there being a fair. all it does is have more gold and silver around most of all, more variety and bigger amounts of everything except bionics and stuff. (for balance) since you dont know if and where it is going to happen, you cant make too much money off of it even if there is a regular fair discount of 10 percent. you cant raid it either.
but if you wanted to buy huge amounts of food or get rid of all the crap you have been sitting on, you could hope for one. maybe you can get a lot more furniture and rares like an orbital trade beacon, when you still cant build them yourself. or flat-/megascreen televisions, or more telescopes or single use weapons and artifacts and so on. it wouldnt be the place for you to seem out in hopes of finding high tech weaponry and armor though, it is a fair, afterall. but there would definitely be toms of animals to buy, especially demosticized ones like cows/bulls, pugs/sows and most importantly roosters/chickenz.

STILL. wouldnt be the first thing on my mind to implement.
surely you dont need to rebutcher corpses that you already half butchered if you leave the table to smoke a joint real quick?
