Idea 1: Cover opps suit: your pawns can turn invisible to the enemy when they wear this suit. The effect turn off once they engage in combat. The suit visibility turn off with some EMP traps or by some auto-turrets. Should be perfect for some melee engage combat. The suit require armor + helmet and bionic claws for the user. Also no equiped weapon.


Idea 2: Well this is not a simple idea, however I'll LOVE IT in game. The space combat should be a short optional minigame at the start of the game when you start with a generic ship and crew (random) with a small background generated:

1) Space Police.
2) Space Pirate.
3) Mining/Research Ship.
4) Supply/Transport Ship.

If you choose Space Police then you must attack and destroy Space Pirate ships. If you keep destroying them, in time you will be caught in a trap what destroy your ship and you escape with your first pawns selection to a new planet meanwhile your ship is destroyed. You start with bonus armor, food or weapon at landing. Most of your pawns will have soldiers background.

2) Space Pirate: bassically the same of space police but you can also hunt some events in a "space map" (like the World Map but you can spot where to strike). Find and destroy Cargo Ships. Once you destroy some numbers the Space Police will hunt you down. Then the survivors escape to a new planet. Grants bonus Weapon, drugs and pawns with slave background (random). Most of your Pawns will be space pirate or related.

3) Mining Ship: your ship is assaulted by pirates then you escape. The bonus of this ship is that you get some resources at the beguin of the colony with steel, gold or even uranium (random). Scientific or Miner background for most of your pawns.

4) Supply/Transport Ship: Same as the Mining Ship, however you recive bonus pods with Silver, food or medicine supplies at the beguin. High skill in social and art/craft skill related background for your random crew.

The "space map" it's a world map skin. In the center of the map is your ship. There's no sun. Also up the "Land" of this world map (if you generate 30% of the space map it will be a small section of your scan, 100% must be all the "galaxy") must be the "target" Pirate (event), Mining Ship (event), Planet to land and comerce (owned by factions) or "lonely" planet to land and start a colony (the planet is then generated in with this overview options.

If you choose to attack a mining ship in the world map, your ship will start to moving to hunt them down. If your ship is full damaged and any of your pawns reach a cargo pod it's game over (all pawns died).

This should also need a new event only for non space-pirates where you contact for rescue then they will sent you a ship location to escape of the planet of your faction with some ally forces. Once you reach and run to the ship, enemy forces will try to strike you down. It should be a great optional ending too. You could contact for help in the radio station sending S.O.S signal, however this could also start raids to your colony meanwhile the signal is on.

This will generated a more consistent crew at the begining of the game oriented to your gamestyle (combat, drugs production, mining, research)...


Moderator's edit (Calahan) - Split this from the "Your Cheapest Ideas" because the bulk of your suggestion is anything but cheap. Please don't use that pinned thread for suggesting elaborate new features. It is meant for very simple ideas that are relatively quick and easy to implement.

and that's your cheapest idea? whew, i wonder what your complicated ones might look like...

all kidding aside, for more complicated stuff i'd advise you to use a seperate thread (and as a pro tip, in this very case i'd inmediately go to the mod topic instead as this doesnt look very vanilla to me)
