Since this was Randy and I did not last 50 days, I did not post this in the difficulty thread for 4e, but I found this amusing.
This is day 2

I've actually been disappointed by Randy lately. My last two games (the first since somewhere in the Alpha 2's I think) I got massacred between day 2 and 15 and after that it was easy mode. I shut down the first colony on day 365 and the most threatening raid after the first was 6 tribesmen armed with 4 stones and 2 short bows. The second is on day 271 and I think I've been attacked 4 times total. The second raid had two pirates with miniguns, but after that its been nothing. Does reloading break Randy?

If anything the most broken thing is the pila. Dang. Get even chill classic and you pull aggro on a group of tribals with these things and you might aswell restart



But just a though. Say 1 played well and got lots of money. I kniw you can buy "loyalty" from factions. Is there no way to turn everyone to some extent friendly? Also. What do you gain by being on good terms. It just seems that they send a group of people to you town periodically to mill around and leave in a day or 2.

really wish there was a middle ground between a strict "storyteller" ai game and randy random. For example, there's no reason for that many raiders to raid a 3 man colony as there's nothing to gain for them, so why would they? I'd much rather a "storyteller" that doesnt babysit you, give you "breaks" or delicately scale up difficulty, but also doesnt throw unrealistic things at you out of the blue like randy. One that instead just acts as an actual world might... like dwarf fortres... *cough* so it becomes a challenge  to survive and doesnt turn into a game of "avoid trying to game the storyteller because thats boring"

This happened to me too!

less than one week in and Randy sends 8 raiders! had to hide behind a mountain while they trashed my base until they finally gave up and left. then immediately after, he sends another 8 more!
