Glitterworld Medicine? Or Ultratech?

Glitterworld is evocative, fun, so Rimworldy good, I'll take the risk, cut off that limb!

Ultratech is modern, concise, factual, and to the point. More likely to cure my ails.

Calling it glitterworld medicine never seemed weird to me.  I always saw the name as meaning "the best medicine, that which would be used on a glitterworld that has access to the best tech and where no expense is spared."  Or perhaps more simply, "this is the good stuff."  Not just a tech level, but a standard by which you can measure.

Glitterworld stuff is still in the game (backstories). All I changed was the medicine, since it's not necessarily from a glitterworld, it'd be weird to name it that. So it's named for its tech level.

But as others have said, the colloquial aspect of it is what it should be called, and inside the description then maybe clarify a standard.

I know this seems minor, but it is a term I found so evocative, and fitting into the Rimworld feel. It really was one of the details that made the game deeper for me. It's not rational, but there it is. Ultratech? Who cares!? Glittertech? Gimme sommadat!!!

Well, maybe it should be. For flavor.
A muffalo encountered a vimp near a patch of sweet vegetables. A struggle ensued. The muffalo gored the vimp with its horns. The vimp bit the muffalo with its beak. Finally, the vimp was bested, sending large chunks of its flesh in every direction. But the muffalo was injured. It shed a single tear.

Treated some wounds with the ultratech and still got infections shortly after.  These meds are obviously not from glitterworld :p

I don't know but the word Glitterworld while weird, sounds very fitting for Rimworld's universe and adds flavor while Ultratech sounds weird to me.

Maybe the word Hi-Tech Medicine or Advanced Medicine would fit more. It sounds less weird than Ultratech in my opinion. :)

One "happy family" in the rims...

I came around to it, an Tynan has a point. It makes sense to say that a Glitterworld has ultratech medicine, but it would just be redundant to say that Glitterworld medicicine came from a Glitterworld. Besides, getting it on a Rimworld means that this "glitterworld" medicine is also on Urbworlds, Midworlds, Disneyworlds, Glasswords, etc. Not so specific now, huh?
Why are you focusing on having a personal life rather than updating a mod that you're not paid to work on?

Why do you hate fun? Glitterworld medicine is a fun, evocative phrase. I, for one, will be modding this back asap, even though I've never made a mod in my life.

Canute

Glitterworld medicin is just a psydonym for an advance medicin that got manufactured and used at Glitterworld mainly.
I bet Glitterworld pawn's will call this different then pawn's from other planets.
And ofcouse other advanced technological faction could manufacture and sell a similar product too.
But people would still call it Glitterworld medicin.

The term "Glitter" to refer to advance human civilisations is so RIMWORLD that I'm actually gonna steal the term if I ever get around writing that scifi novel. It's such a simple word, but  very evocative.

I don't hate fun, I just like logic. That's why I'm playing Rimworld instead of Don't Starve. It's a fine term, but you'd tune out real fast if someone told you that for breakfast, you had a nice, refreshing cup of "Orange-juice-made-of-oranges-from-florida-produced-in-Texas-owned-by-the-CocaCola-company" instead of just "Orange Juice." The bolt-action rifle looks like an M1 Garand, the pistol looks like an M1911, the assault rifle looks like an M16, but they're not named that. We don't need that level of branding and specificity in the game.

Well, if orange juice was something extremely rare and expensive to the point only the Kardashians can afford it (and others barely even hear of it), i'd probably call it Kardashian juice

The thing is though, Ultratech Medicine (leading by example here) isn't that level of exclusive. Sure, it may even be standard on Glitterworlds, but in terms of market value, a tube television is fourteen times as expensive, and most colonies can fit one of those in once the race for decent weapons and work benches is over. Hell, if there was no multiplier on selling or buying goods, you could buy one with the wood you got from a Cypress tree, or almost two of them for one teak tree. I can't confirm it this part was added with updates, but the description of it even says "probably manufactured on a distant glitterworld", implying (possibly) that your "Glitterworld" medicine could totally end-up with a "manufactured on Urbworld 36-B" stamped on the bottom. Then what?

Good point. So let's say, the Kardashians invented Juice and for some time, that juice was exclusive to the Kardashians and their friends, after a while, though, other cultures started using it, as well.

Now, would you rather call that juice Kardashian Juice or Celebrity Juice? Why Celebrity Juice? Because that's the group of people who've been using that juice.

Personally i'd prefer to go with Kardshian Juice, because you can tell it's origin by just looking at the name. Celebrity Juice is just generic and doesn't tell you much. There are also other Juices made by other Celebrities, but there's only one Kardashian Juice.

The same thing applies to Glitterworld Medicine and Ultratech Medicine - both are correct, but the latter is more generic and provides you with less information about it's origin. When you google "ultratech medicine" a lot of random medicine pops up, but Glitterworld Medicine is something that is always associated with Rimworld.

For example, we have Doomsday Rocket Launcher. If it was to be renamed to an Advanced Rocket Launcher or Heavy Rocket Launcher it wouldn't be wrong or anything, but i don't think many people would prefer such a change, i know i wouldn't.

Some people just don't like change. Other people like to change things just for the sake of change. I'm somewhere in the middle - I'm ok with change if it improves something reasonably important. In this case, it has gone from something charming, to something perhaps more technically correct. Is it an improvement? From some perspectives yes, but my gut says no. #revertglitterworldmedicinechangeplease
