Visiting other locations on your world for raiding/trading. Also vehicles.

This would be the coolest feature, IMO. Randomly generated maps for settlements or raider strongholds which you can either raid for materials and prisoners or visit for trade/diplomacy. Raider strongholds should be heavily defended, but if eliminated will put an end to raids from that faction (until a new group appears.)

Travelling to these locations should require ground vehicles which can also store loot and prisoners from your raids.

Also, maybe a way of discovering ancient ruin locations on the planet which can be explored for materials and tech.

The way you would discover a location is either through interrogation of prisoners or using some sort of scanning technology.  Each discovered location generates a map seed which you can select to travel to if you have vehicles and enough fuel.  If using the same world as previous games you could even access your own old colonies.
